  • Many Of My Dividend Growth Stocks Have Become Overvalued, What Do I Do Now?  [View article]
Thanks very much for the thoughtful article!
I decided to take future dividends now, in the form of capital gains, from several excellent businesses such as MCD, PG, PEP as well as DOW and VOD.
The conundrum I face is that the activity of selling (the first 3 at least) runs counter to my major goal of creating a powerful DG machine over the next 15 years.

  • Apple: Up 10% From The Bottom And Going Higher  [View article]
I bought my first shares at a hair under $420. I can be any type of trader/investor under the right circumstance but my fortitude is that of a bargain-hunting, long-term investor and AAPL at current prices suits me.
    Thanks for another great article.

  • Does Entry Point Matter To A Dividend Growth Investor?  [View article]
Thank you for the excellent article.
As my SA name suggests I believe strongly in Dividend (Growth) investing and feel it is an active sport not just a game!
We all must come to terms with our own psychological strengths and failings and hone in on, for a lack of a better word, investment formulas which augment our strengths. If not then we may succumb to our weaknesses especially in tumultuous times.
Your article supports on of my tenants of making all attempts to 'Buy Low'. The shock of a sticker price drop is blunted, the number of shares purchases and thus, total dividend return is higher and the ability to accumulate wealth is enhanced.
Thanks again and I look forward to more articles from you.

  • Why Medtronic's Dividend Growth Looks Fantastic  [View article]
    Thanks for the article!

I have MDT from a few years ago (purchases at $30.50).

The value to buy and hold and monitor dividend-growth investors of your 'forward looking' Dividend Cushion cannot be overstated!

The factors preceding a dividend cut are dynamic yet likely based upon fundamental trends a business is experiencing thus prompting the board to consider a cut in dividend payout. An appropriate analysis of these trends should provide insight during the monitoring phase.

  • The Dividend-Growth Large-Cap Fallacy  [View article]
David, Thank you for this article!
As an investor who is still learning to focus on DGI for the core portfolios I am building I appreciate a peek at the smaller stars in the DG galaxy.
My focus has been on buying the biggest stars when their share price dips but I will focus more attention on the smaller candidates.

  • Medtronic Inc.: Dividend Stock Analysis  [View article]
I use D4L's excellent analysis as reassurance to hang tight with a current holding (purchased a number of years ago) and also to wait for a better price to present itself before acquiring more shares.

I always appreciate the heavy lifting done by D4L.

  • Japan's cabinet backtracks on plans to phase out nuclear power by 2040, deciding to take the proposals "into consideration" when deciding energy policy rather than giving them formal approval. The plans have met strong opposition from business, which fears increased electricity bills and an unstable electricity supply.  [View news story]
    Of course they did!
Reality eventually and inevitably rises in the shadows of politalk.
Investors must focus on the cogs of the world not the squeaks of the machine.

  • Gold will shine in coming months thanks to QE3, strategists say, with Deutsche Bank predicting $2,000 next year and BofA setting a $2,400 target price for 2014. BofA's pick includes a warning that "any abrupt spike in real interest rates that puts an end to the upcoming monetary easing cycle may drive investors out of gold and create substantial downside pressure on prices."  [View news story]
Gold should rise in an typical oscillating trend up and interest rates should not..... for the time being. Play the bounce but keep your hand on a chair for when the music stops, it will stop!

I truly love it when arguments against 'Buy low & Sell high' opportunities abound and I try to load up on the best quality downtrodden recipients of the negative sentiment. Cameco is certainly one of the unloved and hence has substantial upside WHEN the reality of a world with ongoing and expanding energy demands.
    Reality will be the catalyst.
