  • Eagle Ford Shale Is Getting 'Thicker' - Upper Eagle Ford Emerging As A Viable Second Development Zone [View article]
Good piece Richard! A lot of those wells in the uEF pilot appear to be tracking a lower EF type curve. I wonder how many of the upper EF wells can just be added into the rig schedule.

Big read through for Sanchez Energy $SN , which now owns and operates the MASSIVE Catarina Ranch asset to the east and northeast of SM's Gates lease. Catarina Ranch is over 100K acres, although the EF thickness and presence varies from west-central-east.

  • Tonix May Not Need Final Trial [View article]
    Thank you Joe, great work.

You are the first author to get me interested and excited about pharma or biotech or whatever drug development is called.

Can you please recommend some reading, as a starting point, not too technical, form learning about how this business works, especially the trial processes, patent lengths and other key aspects?

    Thanks again!

What about oil glut in the gulf region, can EXXI export crude since they produce "offshore" or are they going to pulled down by shale oil?

  • Bakken Update: Carrizo Continues To Outpace In The Eagle Ford And Ready To Sell In The Niobrara [View article]
Why does EBITDA growth lag at 23% growth YOY, compared to oil production growth of 61% YOY? Is that due to expenses like buying more acreage?

Why do you think they are shopping the Niobrara? Don't they think that the investment community under estimates it's value, ie it would be difficult to get a good price? I think the Marcellus would be even more difficult to sell.

Also, why do you think they are looking to enter The Permian? I haven't got a sniff of that.

I think you present more info before before you start saying that the Utica is not predictable, poor well performance is related to well execution, completion and acreage/geology (eg too far west, or north), I think the real utica players are showing this in their presentations all the time. Small note, think you have a typo where you say condensate sells at a 90% discount to WTI (10%?) and the "West Gas Window" thing. AR is saying the wet gas window may be the most prolific and more important, most profitable.

Good review of the available information, Carrizo (NASDAQ:CRZO) is one of my favs.

If you followed the Cotulla acquisition and were impressed, then you will likely be impressed again. This asset is gassier, but this move has more than one trick up its sleeve.

  • Sanchez Energy: Expanding Eagle Ford's Eastern Frontier [View article]
After revisiting the Q1 2013 conference call my understanding of the 1st Sante well is clarified. The well suffered mechanical issues, partially or fully related to the cement job, this is cement that fills the outside of the casing at the end of drilling each section.

Due to these mechanical issues only a "partial" completions was achieved. This included three stages, as opposed to a now standard 25 stages. The partial completion yielded an IP of 150 boe/d. Using this value a full 25 stage completion could be extrapolated to 1250 boe/d, which is inline with other Marquis results on trend... not bad. 1.4 million pounds of sand is a lot for three stages though, but maybe that sum is related to ineffective completion efforts, or maybe bad data.

Rich, in your data column titles do you mean Mcf or MMcf? ;)

Rich, two solid pieces you put out today...

In regards to the first Sante well, the cement jobed was botched, SN was supposed to get reimbursed via insurance, the whole thing was a shame considering how meaningful that data would have been. Tony Sanchez said in Q3 earnings call that the Sante North well (see attempt #2) would be completed in Dec '13....

Makes me wonder if they are sitting on good or bad results. Makes me wonder what the geology does to the east in Fay Co. If it was great, EOG would be all up in it, leaving a snickers wrapper.

  • Sanchez To Develop Western Eagle Ford Shale [View article]
I would say opportunities are to keep the hyper-impressive growth going, which blows out their peers.
And the delivery of a properly drilled, bugeted, and completed TMS well, with an IP in the 600-1000 bbl/d range. Those are great 2014 goals, and actually what management is likely working on.

IMO GPOR acreage and HK acreage comparison is no good, lumping them together is misleading, compare them more to AR or CRZO's acreage and disclosed well economics.
