Also look at (MHR-C) and (MHR-D). D sells at a large discount.

  • Magnum Hunter Resources' CEO Hosts Changing of Auditors Conference (Transcript) [View article]
I did read your article and found it to be positive . Like you said: the glass looks half full. If what they are saying is true, this kind of accounting issue for a growing company is not all that unusual.

In this special call, the CEO was very specific when he described the
current situation. I don't think he would stick his neck out with a distortion. I bought (MHR) and the preferred (MHR-D) that pays more than 10% now.

"What if the buyer comes with a suitcase of USD"
This buyer would probably have his suitcase confiscated at the airport.
It might be better to invite the seller to take delivery in another country.

Let's assume I am 100% invested right now. Do you mean to say I should not write about a stock I do not own, but have valuable information about, because I can not buy it?

Bonnie, you are a day late and a dividend short. WHZ went ex-dividend today at the opening. What a difference a day makes!

  • New Source Energy Partners (NSLP) becomes the fourth high-yielding master limited partnership to struggle at the outset of trading, as its units slip ~2.5% in their first day on the market despite their 10.5% annualized yield. NSLP joins three previous MLPs launched in 2013 - SXCP, USAC and CVRR - to see lackluster trading off their IPOs (though CVRR has since performed well). [View news story]
Thank you for pointing this out. I bought (CVRR) in January and could not be more satisfied with it's performance. The misinformation in this news release is amazing.

"it was people not knowing what they were investing in."
Very true. They relied on the rating agencies, who did not know what they were rating. They shoul have called these secuities unrateable instead of misleading the people. If the DOJ can hold them acountable, I am all for it.

Most of the $137B is sitting offshore. Could they not use this cash for a stock buyback and keep the shares offshore?

  • Expensive High Yield - II [View article]
Since October, I invested in 11 preferreds that had been callable for 1 to 2 years. Only one was called so far, but since I buy only close to par or even slightly under, this was no loss but a gain after the first dividend. I average close to 8% and have more than 1% in unrealized capital gains.

No, I don't think so. If a dividend aristocrat has increased its dividend for 40 consecutive years and now has a yield of 0.83%, this must be a joke.

There is more positive news for the use of CNG in cars. Yesterday,
(CHK) and (GE) anounced they are offering a container unit with which gas stations can convert pipeline gas to CNG. The unit is built by CHK's Peake Fuel Solutions.
So far, only Nissan offers a car for the use of compressed natural gas, but others will follow.
