  • Why Obama's Deficit-Spending Plan Will (Probably) Work [View article]
A horrible comparison of private investment versus goverment spending. Why? Goverment isn't concerned about risk, ROI, or capital. Additionally linking goverment spending to the cyclical ups and downs of the market is equal to the broken clock analogy. Finally, the goverments money is not as good as everyone's else because the money is everyone elses. The goverment is either printing, borrowing, or stealing it. Its not earned by bringing something of value to the economy.

  • Sirius XM: Media's Fear-Mongering Has Gone on Long Enough  [View article]
CBS Channel 2 TV News interrupted regular programming (The Price is Right) to air a press conference announcing Timothy Dolan as the new Archbishop of New York.

As Archbishop Timothy Dolan was addressing the press, he said and I paraphrase:

Cardinal Egan has asked me to PLUG Sirius Radio --Cardinal Egan then walked up to the podium and and corrected Dolan by sating It's Sirius XM Radio and then proceeded to mention the Catholic Channel and his weekly show on Sirius 159 Thursdays at 1pm. Timothy Dolan joked that he'd be in big trouble if he didn't mention Sirius XM Radio.

Every so often, if you watch the TODAY show, you will see people holding up "SIRIUS XM" banners in the plaza outside of thee Today Show studio.

This is a great start, but it is not enough.

I think Howard should go on a publicity tour doing live shows in each of the markets where he used to be number one on FM.

He could go to universities, he could do live shows, he could have George Takei and Gilbert Gottfried as anchors.

What gives? Has Mel just given up? It seems like Howard gave up a long time ago.

    mogami,

I guess my point is that the trading is very irrational right now. I might think I could make some money on trades,I could make my position worse, I just got my head above water in the past few weeks ... So, since I understand it is irrational right now I am going to just hang out till I get a bead.

The SP will bubble up at or near .14 with a push in the last minute down to below .135 ...same same unfortunately.

I was thinking that the CC would send us slowly up now I am not being that optimistic .

The way to make some money is to trade these pop/dips but i just dont have that in me. Long term we will be ok(looking less to be great though) ... if our hearts survive it.

So you think without any news it goes to .10-.11 then that supposes if more bad news comes you dont think it is priced in already as more bad news coming? Wow, i was thinking that sentiment was that the bad news from the recent events wasnt here yet and the price was reflecting thought that the shoe may drop at CC like maybe low COH .. declining subs and such is due to be announced. Personally I dont think that is going to happen but I am stretching. I would have thought that the shorts/manipulators would have been trying to keep it DOWN to .20 after the last bit of news. Nowhere would I have thought that they could have taken it down the way they have. When at .16 I could see that for a few days but we are fighting a different animal here.

    2 questions.

    1. When is the quarterly CC? I have heard Monday but also saw what seemed like a press release from Sirius that said Feb 25th(Wed). Cant find it anymore. Which is it? Where can I see this info from a company source? Ok more than 1 question imbedded here:)

    2. With this amazingly low trading cycle is bad news (other than BK) priced into the CC? can it go lower than .10-11 on any conceivable news other than BK? As all of you I am bewildered. I wasnt expecting 1.00 much less .40 till after CC anyway. I guessed .20-25 with maybe topping .30 on decent CC.

  • Intrinsic Value Investing: Recognizing Potentially Mispriced Stocks [View article]
bought some at .06 but have .11 average and I for one am hanging on ... I was going to take a little principle off like cos but had mine set for .23 .. just missed it. But I am keeping most on for the quarterly reports then I will take a little more off then. gonna hold 1/3 to 1/2 position based on what comes out then for my long position.

Like others say. Figure out your comfort level. But it is nice to see the variety of strategy.

  • Could It Finally Be Time to Buy Sirius XM Stock? [View article]
Can Brandon or Tyler address these items on the Sirius Buzz Radio show tonight at 9pm?

Why is it Howard Stern discussed his planned departure [when his contract expires] just one day before the Echo Star announcement?

Why is it Howard Stern today (02/05/09 @ 7:10am) went even further and reported that Gary had lunch with some people in the business to find out what jobs might be available for a HTJA in the future when this show "goes away?"

Why even bring this up when the SP is in the toilet? Is Howard jockeying for a new contract? For new offers from radio or TV? Doesn't Howard realize that if he leaves Shareholders (his listeners) in the dust we will never listen to him again regardless of which medium he moves to?

Why is it that there are so many rumors of a take-over by Echo Star buying debt, forcing BK, and buying on the cheap when it is well known that a large percentage of the stockholders are Sirius subscribers and if a suitor does an unfriendly takeover there will be a mass exodus of subscribers cancelling their Sirius xm subscriptions including myself leaving echo star with a worthless product?

Echo Star would then need to develop a new customer base from scratch--yeah, like that's going to happen in this economy!

Doesn't Mel K understand that if Sirius goes BK (by ES or any other means) Mel will be persona non-grata on the Street? What company would ever want him at the helm?

If he hadn't gone for the 11th hour financing to complete the merger, would echo star have swooped in to make the same move they are now rumored to be making?

Why is it Howard Stern got to be number one in most markets on FM (by any means necessary, including parades and going on location) all the while only getting paid less than $15 million a year and yet on Sirius, he has done nothing in the way of promotion while making approx.. $100 mil a year? I'm just scratching my head...

    And finally,

Why is it that Sirius Buzz Radio talks financials for the first half hour and takes approximately 3 calls (giving each caller an unlimited amount of time) in the last half hour of the radio show? Just let the callers make their point, move on and take more calls. But otherwise, Sirius Buzz Radio is the definitive show for shareholders and fans alike.

    Keep up the good work
