  • Linn Energy: Don't Panic About The Distribution [View article]
I listen to Cramer and do my own research...that said, caught that segment (are you kidding me?) circled like a shark, waited for the dust to settle on the Cramer 'pronouncement' and subsequent decline in LNCO price. Then, backed up the really big truck. Hard to pass the dividends. It makes me money. That is the bottom LINE (LNCO).

  • Linn Energy/LinnCo upgraded to Focus Stock at Howard Weil [View news story]
Woo-hoo! Had to read that first sentence twice to make certain that I was really seeing what I was seeing. Loaded up the truck a couple of times when it dipped. Rather looks like holding and adding just might have been a better decision than bolting with the hysterical herd. Besides, got the dividends, too....and oh, yeah, there is that Brent-WTI spread thing..life is good and going to get better. Barron's who?

  • Analysis: Retail store closings to take off [View news story]
The article focus is on retail. I look around the uber metro area that I live in (ground zero for oil & gas) and see available merchandise stock sharply down, fewer customers at malls, all manner of shops and stores, and restaurants (hey look---no line!), I more than just wonder what is going on. It does not match with what I hear about the improving economic conditions. Looks a lot like a deepening recession to me. It is not just the internet shopping; it goes much, much further than that.

  • It's Not So Much Why Buffett Bought Exxon Mobil, It's Why He Bought It Now [View article]
Well done article. Long XOM and others. Still have this nagging feeling about this purchase. Probably need to add to my position.

  • Why Did Warren Buffett Purchase Exxon Mobil Stock? [View article]
Perhaps Mr. B has seen something on a longer term horizon. We may have a dip right now, but ultimately, oil/gas is a very safe place to be. Everybody needs it. As for Russia, keep in mind that XOM has proprietary technology that Russia does not. Russia can screw XOM over, but at immense peril. Very long XOM, CVX and add on dips.

  • Why Did Buffett Reduce ConocoPhillips Stake And Add Exxon Mobil? [View article]

  • Don't Follow Buffett Into Exxon [View article]
So, what theories are there that this extraordinary man would dump that much money into a bluest of the stocks near an all time high? Stayed tuned for the sequel of called 'Buffet Laughs Again, Part 2014'. Perhaps looking at a much bigger picture is good idea.

Long lots of oily stuff, especially XOM.

  • New German coalition government would keep fracking ban [View news story]
Would respectfully point out that the salt caverns are reserved for all the nuclear waste for the decommissioned and slated to be decommissioned nuclear power plants. That would be all of the nuclear plants--36 plants. 100%. The waste has to go underground.

  • New German coalition government would keep fracking ban [View news story]
Maybe the least of their worries. Anybody remember Chernobyl? The strontium and cesium, among other nasty little nuclear products, are still around. Germany received considerable contamination. There is a huge anti-nuclear movement and every single nuclear plant has been slated to be decommissioned as a result of the Fukushima Daiichi disaster. Renewable energy sources are extremely expensive and tenuous at best, providing a miniscule amount of energy/power (and that would be forward-looking decades). As result of all of that, natural gas was thought to be their answer. Now, there is a growing movement against that because of the hysteria, not facts, surrounding fracking. If the Germans do not want to develop their own energy resources, so be it. Buy the gas from Gazprom. It's all good until the lines are shut down. Might ask the Ukrainians how that worked out for them.

Takeaway-----not really a problem in Germany. When the lights go out, you will still be able to find your beer, glowing in the dark....

  • What Current Oil Production Levels Have To Do With Beer [View article]
Manifa oil field is in a really bad neighborhood. Buy XOM, CVX and other solid major players. Solar is as reliable as wind turbines. Nuclear is too hot too touch. Oil will be here certainly for our lifetime --- look around your room. Just that. Everything that you see is made of, with or transported using...oil products. Except the air. It isn't just cars/trucks. It is our entire world.
