  • Buffett's Bursting Bubble [View article]
I prefer objective analysis--this article falls way short. Fox News already exists.

  • Newt Gingrich causes a surprise and scrambles the GOP primaries by comfortably beating Mitt Romney in South Carolina, with exit polls showing that the economy was an important factor in people's votes. "Those who "disparage" economic success "are not going to be fit to be our nominee," Romney says.  [View news story]
Actually, my portfolio begs to differ. The last three years are a marked improvement over the state of the market at the end of the Bush administration.

  • Apple Has Peaked: The Warning Signs Are Multiplying [View article]
If i had a nickel for every pundit calling for the imminent demise of AAPL....I would buy more AAPL stock with it.

  • Ford Motor Company: Worth The Risk? [View article]
Let's think about the auto industry: Barriers to entry are impossibly high. Ford's PE is absurdly low. Existing fleet of vehicles on the road is older than ever. As a "wrencher" myself, I know first hand that older cars eventually become more expensive to maintain than buying a new car. Just walk around a lot, Ford has a fleet of very good looking cars--Toyotas look like cheap, plastic easter eggs by comparison. Lastly, Americans will not walk, no matter how much is costs to drive.

  • Solar Panels: Let's Lose This Competition [View article]
Is there no quarter safe from Fox News retardism?

Revisit footage from the Haiti earthquake and you willl be struck by the ubiquity of cell phones in the worlds poorest nation. Solar is experiencing the same dynamic.

Perhaps the author should stick to investing his money on unproductive assets like houses in Riverside County or gold. He will find all the fools he needs to crown himself king of the trailer park.

I challenge you to identify just one marked policy difference between Obama-Romney or Obama-Gingrich that makes a real difference to your economic outlook. You can't. Hot button issues like abortion and gay marriage should be state issues. Stay in Oklahoma if you want to live in a Christian theocracy, move to New York if you want civilization. Either way, those issues need to be set aside so it does not distract from economic matters in a national forum.

  • Amazon: Determined To Continue Its Assault On Apple [View article]
Let's be honest about who is buying the Amazon Kindle. These are people who are not just cost-conscious, they are cost constrained, i.e., they don't have much value as customers. They may purchase a few discounted book titles on Amazon but their Kindle Fires will mostly sit on an end table, forgotten and neglected once the limitations of this device become clear.

  • While other firms (I, II) are lowering their iPhone and regular iPad forecasts, NPD claims Apple (AAPL -3.7%) has more than doubled its iPad Mini display panel orders to 12M+ (presumably to AUO and LPL) to meet strong demand. Moreover, NPD thinks the Mini could account for half of 2013 iPad shipments, which it pegs at 100M+. The difference between the Mini's size (0.68 lbs. and 0.28" thick) and the 4th-gen iPad's (1.44 lbs. and 0.37") is hard to ignore here. Separately, Digitimes reports Apple is working on a second-gen Mini that's lighter still, and will sport a better display. [View news story]
100 million ipads in 2013? wow. The entire US population is 300m. The PC as we know it dead, dead, dead.

  • An Apple Bubble Is Forming [View article]
If Apple had an outrageous PE, I could call it a bubble--That is hardly the case. What afflicts Apple is a jaw dropping realization of potential...it's too good to be true, yet I see nothing on the horizon to indicate otherwise.

  • You Can't Eat Your Gold [View article]
Gold is a powerful illusion. Gold is not wealth. Wealth is the tangible things that surround you- buildings, cars, airplanes, a tube of toothpaste, etc. The world accumulates more and more real wealth every year, not with gold, but with sophisticated credit systems unbound from the absurd, impractical, and unnecessary practice of burning up hundreds of dollars worth of energy for every ounce of gold.

  • Weighing The Week Ahead: Time For A Turn In Housing? [View article]
They are not going to retire, the are going to "expire". 1945 was 67 years ago. How many of the 78,000,000 baby boomers will still be with us 20 years from now when the oldest members of that generation are over 85? We are all going to die and the boomers are no exception. For the sake of argument, assume they die in even intervals over the next twenty years--that means 4 million fewer boomers per year--what happens to their hard assets like houses?

You are absolutely the most ignorant man I have ever encountered on these forums. Your willful ignorance of the housing collapse is stunning. Are you seriously going to pretend the housing collapse has nothing to do with our current malaise? Japan is still reeling from its housing collapse and that was 20 years ago. With regard to the budget deficit, you are going to ignore the costs of a decade long, tow front war? Unbelieveable. I have a recommendation for you, put all your money in gold and keep it there.
