  • Buy Signal On Turquoise Hill And South Gobi Issued By Release Of Sarah Armstrong [View article]
What do you mean "set up"?

Robert Friedland and his appointees have always shown a remarkable ability to piss the government and people of Mongolia off.

    Guest Investor,

There are rumors that she has tapes of ACA officials asking for bribes and threatening South Gobi with continued legal action unless they paid up. If this turns out to be true you will indeed have been right.

I wouldn't invest in Prophecy personally.

I like the idea of exporting thermal coal as electricity in the long term (which is Prophecy's ultimate goal) and definitely agree that Mongolia has a serious upcoming power issue. In that sense, the long term fundamentals of the business model are persuasive.

In the short term the company is bleeding money - in the first six months of the year they spent 3.2 million on operating activities and 16 million on their licenses and acquisitions.

At the end of the first half their cash on hand was 1.3 million despite selling 2.8 million worth of securities (presumably Prophecy Platinum shares).

The only way that Prophecy can continue to fund their project is to continue selling down their shares in Prophecy Platinum. As their ownership in that company falls their valuation will fall as well because the market does not value their work on the power project.

What this basically means is that the company is destroying value for shareholders by selling shares of Prophecy Platinum and plowing the money into something that investors don't take seriously. Investors will continue to feel this way until Prophecy can demonstrate that there is a clear route to funding the power project. At that time current shareholders will suffer massive dilution as they will have essentially no worth and need hundreds of millions in equity to fund the project.

I don't know why it makes sense to be invested now. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

The Prime Minister owns Altai Holdings - this is a well known fact within Mongolia. He is almost certainly a billionaire.

I am an expat living in Mongolia working at an Investment Bank. I can't believe somebody is offering to sell you information on the second and third tier of companies in the MSE for $5k. I would love to talk to this person and see if there are any takers.
