  • The End Of Cheap China Is Growing Near [View article]
Shaun, I know from the LinkedIn Economist Group that you personally are not for tariffs. However, the Chinese Communist Party is not made up of free-traders named Shaun Rein. They believe in predatory mercantilism.

I'm not a free-trader. I'm for fair trade and parity tariffs on imports from mercantilist countries, though I would strongly prefer the US cut their tax rates and regulatory red tape on domestic US based business operations.

  • 'Miracle Of Africa' Stands In Sharp Contrast To Europe And U.S. [View article]
When commodities prices stagnate or fall, will people still want to invest in Africa? South Africa is a cesspool since the National Party surrendered power in 1994.

What is surprising about the Chinese Hacking the US Chamber of Commerce Computers in the WSJ is that the Chamber of Commerce carries water for China by advocating for offshore outsourcing and against tariffs on imports. Furthermore, the WSJ is also carries water for China by advocating the same positions as the Chamber of Commerce. I'm shocked that they would even report anything that makes China look bad.

Todd, I like this company much better than STB. Unlike STB, this company is financing their dividends and share purchases with organic operating cash flows. This is a Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious good stock

China's been imposing tariffs on the US since forever. I don't see why imposing them on car parts is so noteworthy.

  • Bond Rate Pigs Will Get Slaughtered [View article]
Rate Pigs in the banking business get hammered too. Take UMBF, they went through the crisis with barely a scratch because they gets more about the Rate of Return OF Their Money rather than being the yield pig clamoring for a higher rate of return on their money.

Other banks like RF, Wachovia Corp, STI, National City etc got hammered because they were chasing yield.

  • Novo Nordisk Reports Stellar 3rd Quarter Earnings [View article]
The only thing I can complain about NVO is that I can't complain about it. They have strong organic growth, Free Cash Flows from operating activities, prudent capital allocation, clean balance sheet, Novo Foundation has 25% of the stock, top employer, only Danish company on NYSE or NASDAQ. I bought $2K worth of stock and was planning on buying more on dips.

I recommend avoiding it. It would be a better company if they concentrated on organic growth and retained operating cash flows to pay down debt. I'm amazed that they've been able to raise the cash they raised from the capital markets. They could have raised $200M less if they didn't pay a dividend, which would have helped reduce their interest expenses and increase their Net Income.

I thought they didn't like it because of STB's weak profitability and heavy dependence on raising external debt and shares from the capital markets.
