  • Stryker Corporation Dividend Stock Analysis [View article]
Stock isn't going to dip below 43. It hasn't been below 43 for years. Great company. Solid growth prospects. Good Div, but come up with a more realistic outlook that doesn't rely on copying metrics.

  • The Portfolio For Do It Yourselfers: What We Are Buying (Part 2) [View article]
I'd love to have a cost basis on any of those stocks close to what you have. I know time will help me get there, but cripes. As a investor whom is still cutting my teeth (1.5 years), finding the value stocks has been my focus because while I sympathize and enjoy DGI philosophy it's been hard the last year and a half coordinating the cash and the opportunity. Overall, I enjoy articles like this. I like it when I see DGI community members share their purchases and reasoning.

  • Load Up On Dividend Stocks After A Fiscal Cliff Sell-Off [View article]
I would buy those stocks if they hit the levels you desire. But lets face it, going to be a while before $YUM hits 54. Going to be a while before $WMT hits 64. And $KO, hitting 34 is going to be a while also. I hope you're right and the opportunitiy comes.

If my data center can do with five fifty dollar chips what one five hundred dollar chip does and I can save money on energy as I throttle my 5 to the demand, I'll take the 5 chips.

  • Electronic Arts: The Turnaround Is At Hand For This Fallen Angel - Buy On Headline Weakness [View article]

Started Orgin digital distribution. Good. Removed products from the virtual shelf of a distributer with 58 million active customers. Bad.

Spent $1 billion buying Playfish and PopCap. Trying to chase Zynga, a company that designs video games the same way con artists design pyramid schemes. Bad.

EA is a publisher of last resort for many developers. With the F2P model and games becoming easier to publish, EA's death grip on funding becomes a null issue. Decades of giving developers the short end of the stick when it comes to publishing deals is coming to an end and in that, decreased revenues and increased costs to buy companies that won't sign with you.

EA's conversion from subscribe to F2P. Their Star Wars MMO attrition rate was amazingly horrible. The only way to shore up the numbers was to make it F2P. EA hasn't done a successful subscription product in what, a decade? What launched EA F2P product has been successful?

EA shares are off more than 75% in the past five years. Heck even corrupt Bank of America's share price has recovered slightly better than EA's.

If I had 10 bucks to invest. And could choose between a video game company and anything else. Why would I pick EA?

In the short term (<1 years), I see more downside. In the long term (>5 years) I see upside. I went ahead and established an initial position and will add further with more drops.

  • Which Waste Service Provider Is The Best Bet For Now? [View article]
WM's debt and continued lack of growth will continue to put downward pressure on the price. Their size and business complexity make it a difficult company to manuever as compared to it's smaller more agile compeditors. WM's long in the tooth management team continues to struggle to find ways to grow a business in an enviroment where compeditors are growing but it is not.

  • Intel Hits It Out Of The Park At CES 2013 [View article]

Can anyone tell me what percentage of the market for mobile and tablets does Intel currently have for sold devices? 1-7%?

NPD has estimated tablet shipments will reach more than 240 million units worldwide in 2013, compared to the company's projection of 207 million notebook shipments.

Combine this with a year over year decline in PC sales.

What is the answer to the first question again?

  • It finally happened: Well-respected Hulu (DIS, CMCSA, NWS) CEO Jason Kilar says he's leaving in Q1, and that CTO Rich Tom is joining him. Hobbled by the licensing and distribution restrictions placed by media industry owners generally terrified of upsetting their pay-TV industry clients, money-losing Hulu's total monthly viewers have been surpassed by Netflix's paid subscriber base. Kilar's departure could have something to do with a reported request for a fresh $200M in funding. (also[View news story]
Hmm, ask people to pay for less than what they can get for free? Sure, paid Hulu is a great idea!

I also tried Motif David and couldn't get it to quite fit. I wish they offered more customizeability and the ability to share personalized motifs, also a facebook page for your motif where people could discuss it.

If the market declines the next two weeks, I say fantastic. It wil help you get better entry points with your cash you have set aside. Remember to always keep some cash position when you can to take advantage of big pull backs. DGI stocks don't pull back as often as I would like and situations like this provide opportunity sometimes.

As for selling. I haven't and I'm a new investor myself, only been doing this myself a year. Remember, if you've invested in "Fish Stocks" those companies aren't going away. They're going to grow for many years to come in all likelyhood. A two week or two month pull back doesn't mean anything.

Just like a patient whom complains of a the normal repercussions of medical procedures, remind yourself, that this process is normal and that the DGI treatment you've perscribed is working as intended.
