The problem with this analysis is that the iPhone is one of the first smartphones in North America actually supported by one of these major mobile carriers, who normally bundle cheap models by other makers into service plans to compete in volume in price. Also you seem to confuse handset makers with service carriers. What difference does it make if you have an iPhone or a Samsung if the AT&T coverage in your area is dubious?
