  • Taking Advantage of Falling Fuel Costs  [View article]
The odd-even day ban mentioned was only a trial to measure the impact of cars on pollution in preparation for the Olymics. It ran in Beijing from last Friday to last Monday, two days off the road for odd and even numbers vehicles, two business days, two week-end days. No Chinese city has, to my knowledge (and I try to track these things) abopted the regime - it has only been a test. (Shanghai will run a similar test this week). Pollution did not visibly improve, traffic did improve slightly.
