  • Hulbert: Corporate insiders are dumping stocks at 25-year highs [View news story]
I would not worry about the Russians. Germany has announced they can't do anything. China won't do anything. The US won't do anything. The events may cause a dip in the markets, but they will only be temporary. Putin will annex Crimea and the world will watch and whine. If this is a real problem, it will not rear it's head for years. Nothing happened when he took part of Georgia, nothing will happen when he takes Crimea. If he splits Ukraine in half it will ratchet up the rhetoric, but again, nothing will happen. Until, at a point some years distant, this becomes a really large issue will some cataclysmic event occur.

  • Ukraine accuses Russian soldiers of seizing airports [View news story]
Putin will invade Ukraine if it pleases him. What we are doing to our own political\military influence around the world is a real problem that will have to be reckoned with at some point in the future, probably at a much higher cost than anyone wants to admit. Most Americans could care less as long as the government hands them some "freebies" to keep them quite.

    Thanks for the spirited responses.

I'm not a W fan. I'm addressing the short-commings of the current regime. Not Bush, not Reagan. Not even Carter. I live in today's world and look at what the future may hold. But I understand we have come to the point we are under the current president, and not just in the Ukraine, because 0bama has no stature in the world and is seen as a clown and is quite frankly is a wuss.

Instability in N. Africa, Russians moving into Central America, China advancing in the Pacific and Africa, more destabilization in the Middle East and folding the tent on the US military does not bode well for America in the near term future.

But, go ahead, I've got some nachos ready to enjoy while I read the rest of your commentary.

Putin was the guy 0bama pledged to be more flexible with after the election. You are seeing his flexibility in action.

Kerry, and by extension 0bama, declared the Monroe doctrine obsolete. Russia is expanding with permanent military presence in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

Putin can smell a spineless wimp thousands of miles away, and the stench of 0bama is quite strong.

But, please carry on, your defense of the "weak" one is quite entertaining.

Well, for one, I know he would not be gutting the military. A strong offense is a strong deterrent. Add to that that Obama is a spineless coward and both China and Russia know it and you have a recipe for increased aggression by other world powers.

You can't say that, Tricky. Reagan dismantled the USSR and rendered them impotent. Now we have in impotent president allowing them to reconstruct.
