  • Perspectives On Friday's Sell Off [View article]
"I have many concerns but the #1 is that there will not be enough disposable income in US and Canada to hit the vehicle sales projections."
Lenders are addressing that with 6+ year auto loans. Someday your loan will be longer than your car lasts.

"Total markets supply of assets on the aggregate went up, another downward striking force."
Isn't this somewhat mitigated buy all the buybacks that have been taking place and continuing to do so, thereby pumping up eps and reducing share counts?

All in all, I think this is all positioning for the FOMC meeting next week.

I'm not a fan of the ACA. That said:
"You can’t call anything insurance if the government comes back and takes your house or car after you kick the bucket; that’s called a loan."
That happened prior to the ACA with insurance companies. If your portion of the bill, due to the type of coverage you had, exceeded that funds you had to pay it, they come after your other assets - even upon death.

"Obamacare forcing people with assets onto Medicaid rolls may only represent a small portion of the population, but it is entirely wrong to do this."
"There is no freedom of choice"
Nobody is being forced onto Medicaid. Anyone can still go buy a policy via an insurance company. Only through the exchanges can you gain access to Medicaid via the implementation of the ACA. Now, if you want to take advantage of the ability to go on Medicaid offered by the ACA, like anything, there are rules that come along with a government benefit.

So people who run up $250,000 in medical bills upon death are supposed to screw the taxpayer to cover the cost? I don't understand your point.

Spending will probably remain neutral. With much higher deductibles, people will, due to the cost of a procedure, postpone it.
