    the barclays agg is THE fixed income benchmark. it would be extremely difficult to penetrate the market with a new benchmark. also, pretty sure IDC is the only place that would have the historical dataset neded to replicate the index.

    this could get ugly relatively quickly. the russians, in their mind, are taking back what was and is theirs. we are simply a third party with no emotional ties to the region. the russians are all in, and i somehow doubt we would be as well.

    may turn out to be true, although i doubt it. hedge funds, reits, private equity, mezz lenders, etc. have been reducing the amount of credit extend on a much larger scale than anyone else. the fed may just merely be printing to keep money supply afloat and prevent a deflationary cycle.
