  • Should Visa, MasterCard Fear IBM? [View article]
sure. bought and hold IBM for the great earnings yield and stable cash flow characteristics in a very expensive market. Any breakthrough technology is just icing on the cake for me. best of luck.

  • IBM: Buffett Inexplicably Doubles Down [View article]
I empathize with your pain but paying market price for a security and then blaming management, as some are arguing, when the MARKET price is lower is insane. Management only controls the operational aspect of the business, market perception and psychology determine the multiple. As other commentators have posted above i believe management is doing a decent job with a tough assignment.

My question for you would be, why did you buy IBM in the first place? Does your rationale still apply? What was your target entry price and plan for entry? Why or why didn't you stagger your entry to prevent market risk? No one is consistently able to accurately call a bottom in a stock, thus the reason for tools like intrinsic value calculations and a staggered batch purchase approach to buying. Best of luck.

  • Govcoin? IBM And Intel Flirt With The Blockchain [View article]
I understand your faith in bitcoin but consider your background/skills. Now try to consider the average person placing trust in what you describe as an decentralized structure with absolutely no oversight. If i have any faith in humanity it is related to their innovative ability to exploit things given enough time and a lack of oversight. I just cant see the value from consumer standpoint let alone an investing one. Best of luck.

  • Should Visa, MasterCard Fear IBM? [View article]
Great article. Something of potentially great value to IBM in particular, a business that raises their margins, has a sticky business profile, and has the potential scale to provide substantial growth to their top line. Definitely something that i will keep my eye on as developments progress.

Yeah I would prefer they keep the technology but my speculative fear is that Buehlers private equity buddies and ole lorenzton are pushing for control to take it private at a cheap price.

  • EIA: U.S. Crude Oil Storage Capacity Will Not Top Out In 2015 - Presaging A Short Squeeze? [View article]
Great article. I hear a lot of speculation on the impact that the dollar is having on the price of oil. Specifically Tom Armistead puts out a ~67 dollar WTI if you normalize the exchange rate of the dollar according to historical averages. Do you have any thoughts on this or maybe how it affects your case for oil? Thanks

true their leverage has hurt them in this downturn. I think the thing to keep in mind is that leverage hurts to the downside but if managed well provides great benefits to the upside
