  • WABTEC Long Thesis Reviewed After Responses To DOT Notice Of Proposed Rulemaking [View article]
We had a deadly derailment here in New York and I see WAB as a major player in safety upgrades. Maybe I'm wrong but either way it is a decent stock and one fine day we will set about upgrading our ancient system

  • Shifting Balance Between Telecom Infrastructure Vs. Service Providers Now Favors Infrastructure [View article]
I bought Clearwire at a low price and hope this attempt at a buyout favors us who have Clearwire. I am rather a novice but my then Schwab account analysis said I was short communication stock so I bought the clearwire got my fingers crossed. By the way, lets say I get back a nice return say 50% do i then sell what I have or keep some or hold? (if there is a rule of thumb but my style is mostly big moats with hold forever as a goal)

  • Hansen Medical's CEO Discusses Q1 2013 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
My stocks are doing well except for Hansen and I bought into the marijuana bandwagon with MJNA Thankfully it was not a lot of money about $900 Hansen was higher near 2K and have lost -31.88% my winners include AXLL that I bought from PPG at a discount. I am at +26.68 and was higher at 63% but added a couple of K to it. Well the rest like GE, Berkshire and other big moats are doing average of +14% I still wish I had no red lines.

  • Hansen Medical's CEO Discusses Q1 2013 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Bought Hansen several months ago and my reasons were personal. I had a heart problem and face the possibility of having to have an arterial procedure. This company has a system that aids the surgery and that sparked my interest.
Emotional "hunch's" seem not to be the way to purchase as HNSN has shot downward since my buy-live and learn I suppose

  • How Management Misled Investors When It Gained Control Of Medical Marijuana, Inc. [View article]
I am still doing well in the market coming up on 2 years and have done well over 8% average. I am a novice with all my knowledge coming from study here online and some thoughts I have as to where this country is headed. I dabble in two penny stocks and one is a chinese sneaker maker (maybe not a pure "penny stock" but risky with high potential) and MJNA. I have been hit hard but only invested a thousand although a $500 hit hurts, the rest are doing so well that I can afford to wait it out. My gut here still thinks this stock has potential seeing the great interest in leagalization

  • Why Medical Marijuana Inc. Has Lost Its Buzz [View article]
I am still very much a novice but have managed an average return of 9-11% over my near two year's of trading. To be true it is more investing as a "buy and hold" then trading per sec. I may just be lucky but the stocks I picked totally on my own have done better then my bluechip hold forever stocks. I use common sense along with a moral compass (no firms that test on animals to name one exclusion) I see what we will need as a country and trade there knowing one day we must address the crumbling structure. So, big deal. Here on MJNA it is guess work that someone has to have a foot in the door and who else but those "criminals" who sold pot already. By the way, to me they are more honest then a lot of Wall Street vipers. Yeah and like many folk, it would be nice to have a huge hit and why not play on the asumption that MJ will be legal countrywide.

  • Medical Marijuana Inc.'s Recent Transaction And Guidance Raise Questions [View article]
I am about as novice as one can get and have been trading for a year and a quarter. I am up over 9% and have a greater investment in two mutual funds and one ETF (all bringing in avg of 8% plus) My wife keeps bugging me to get in on IPO's until I get her to understand we got slim to no chance on that so, here comes MJNA a penny stock with huge potential. I look into it and say why not??! If and when the Fed decides to make it legal (and the snowball is rolling) I feel one of two good things can happen-One MJNA has a leg up and will quickly convert from non psycho-active product to active (THC containing) maybe they will become the industry leader. Two a tobacco giant buys them out! Both things can be good. On the other hand, I can lose my 2 grand investment. I have lost that and more at the track over the years so while it may hurt, I will not cry over it. I wish I understand all you said Alan but even without understanding, the guidance one can get here and the many other sites can lead even a novice to a decent portfolio

  • Market recap: The S&P 500 broke below 1,500 and the Dow declined more than 200 points, shortly after hitting a new multi-year high, as the prospect of a hung parliament in Italy renewed scary scenarios of widening sovereign debt yields and another flare-up of the eurozone debt drama. The uncertainty also sank Treasury yields to one-month lows, and pushed gold and industrial commodities sharply higher. [View news story]
I am a novice but have been doing well with dividend stocks and 3 mutual funds and one ETF Would please explain what a "correction" is? Seems to me the market is a fickle place. When I hear "uncertainty" I have to think 'What do you expect in a market? if you want certain, put your money in your mattress!

  • PPG Shareholders: Beware Of Georgia Gulf Exchange Offer [View article]
PPG has earned me 22% since I bought it and now I get this attractive offer of a 10% discount what do I do? As usual, the reports seem to contradict each other. I'm going to "half-way" trust this is a good thing and go 50-50 with my PPG shares and keep my fingers crossed. I have invested only one year but right now am at plus 13% I wonder if I fully understood "calls and "puts" I'd be doing better then buy and hold?

  • 7 Stocks That Jim Cramer and David Tepper Love [View article]
New to investing. I have six stocks, two mutual funds in stocks one large cap one small cap-two mutual bond funds a Genny Mae and a gov bond fund. I researched as I could and followed "expert" advice except for one stock KOP that one is a strong "hope" stock hoping the economy will pick up to a point where we address our ailing infrastructure. I seek to learn
