  • Apple (AAPL) wants Judge Koh to award another $707M in damages from Samsung (SSNLF.PK) on top of the $1.05B a San Jose jury awarded the company last month, as well as a permanent ban on 26 Samsung smartphones (it was previously looking for just 8) and 3 tablets come Dec. 6. Samsung wants a re-trial, alleging the time constraints of the California trial "prevented Samsung from presenting a full and fair case." Neither side will be giving its patent lawyers a break anytime soon. [View news story]
microsoft had a tablet years before apple, the iphone design and os is based on sony and samsung predecessors. tell me again what they've innovated? it certainly isnt the 4G LTE technology they are using in iphone 4S and 5. apple got lucky in america, but this wont fly in other countries.

  • Plug Your Nose And Buy Hewlett-Packard? [View article]
as long as companies offer PCs and laptops cheaper than apple then college students will buy them. as many macs as i see on campus i see more dells and HPs (they are harder to see because they're not shiny). furthermore, any college kid that is actually paying for their own tuition wouldn't think about buying a 1500$ laptop.

  • FOMC Minutes: Support is growing for additional action "fairly soon," unless there is clear strengthening of the economic recovery. QE3 is among possible actions, but other options discussed included extending the announced period of ZIRP, or reducing interest rates on reserves. [View news story]
thats what i was thinking, Galt. ZIRP is zero intrest rate policy i think, which would make sense.
-next stop: negative intrest rate policy !

  • BP - A Great Company At A Low Price [View article]
BP has made some divestments to focus on their core, and i think the LNG play in alaska would be briliant when its up and running.
I see BP like I see BAC. sentiment isnt great from the public in either, their both beaten up,and both had liability issues from lawsuits. i think BP, in the coming quarters, will improve earnings and the stock will realize its fair value. and like the author says: it pays a dividend while you wait.

  • Buffett Disses Gold [View article]
Good thoughts DAG; Pt comprises .003 ppm vs Au .004 ppm; plus Pt is harder to isolate from ore. Pt trading lower than gold either supports buffet or Pt is undervalued. I wont add more to my metals position (short term) because i like the liquidity of stock.
