    Wal-Mart needs Apple's permission before discounting its products. That is most likely what Wal-Mart meant when they said 'they are working with Apple on the discounts.' I don't know for sure any more than you do, but it is very plausible.
    They have not only considered every point of concern you raise, but they are almost surely light years ahead of all of us in addressing them. Apple isn't run by a bunch of retards - it was to their benefit to allow Wal-Mart to discount the products or they would not have allowed it. You can be sure there are calculations we are not even aware of that entered into the decision.
