  • Bank Of America Is The Best Bank Stock On The Dow [View article]
Hope springs eternal. I've owned BOA since Eisenhower was a private. I've been hanging on for old times sake. I keep it as a reminder that sometimes love affairs are sometimes best to walk away from.

  • Why Investors Should Accumulate Shares Of Wells Fargo [View article]
Given the recent revelations relative to WF's method of making money via investment activities and the huge risk related to VIR's and other notational exposure, I would question the advisability of any personal investment. I realize Mr. Buffett has substantial holdings here but until greater transparency can be provided to explain the huge risks in the bank's portfolio this should be IMHO considered a financial WMD.

  • Why I Love Costco [View article]
If price is the "driver" here there are sure a lot of high-ticket rides in the lot of my Costco. Maybe the $ they save pays for the Mercedes. I haven't sliced and diced the numbers, but my people-meter tells me there's a real energy here. Unquantifiable, but these guys have built a brand that can have lots of future extensions in retail. Right now, for example, they could probably sell their electronic concierge service and earn a few million a year from folks who don't want to deal with truculent advice from some exotic land.

  • Which Oil Giant Is A Winning Bet For 2013? [View article]
I would think a more detailed analysis, including free cash-flow might lead to a different conclusion. However, I would agree that three of these firms should do well long-term. CVX faces more legal uncertainty than I would like, but overall seems to be reasonably well run. I'd wait for a correction before committing fresh capital. Bottom line, XOM deploys capital better than any of the giants and is likely to continue to do so. This is probably a good time to partner-up with a company that understands how to do this.

  • 5 Reasons To Buy Navistar [View article]
The engine certification issue has put them in serious jeopardy of losing not only $, but more importantly, the trust of their customers. There is too much uncertainty here to warrant any confidence in them as an investment. If you want to roll the dice, so be it ... but you might want to go to Vegas and at least have the free drinks and showgirls.
