Apple, Android Now Make Up 75% of U.S. Smartphone Web Traffic [View article]
the data seems less than reliable. I find it hard to believe Android users' traffic requests, out number Blackberry users' traffic request, when Blackberry users installed base is probably 30x greater than the Android installed base.

Not sure how this will benefit them. But again how does google make money off it's navigation service. If they've found a way, maybe Garmin can do the same and offer a superior navigation service.
Remember Apple has a ton of ipoders to conver to iPhones. Any new competing device (aka Palm Pre) can't give assurance that they'll be able to access their music. Fortunately for Blackberry and others iTunes compatibility isn't a must for everyone for now.
I don't own any Apple Shares and I bought a iPhone 3GS and returned it after 20 days, because I liked my Blackberry better for mail and phone. However most people are buying the iPhone. When I spoke to the rep at the ATT store on Monday, he said most people were buying iPhones and Blackberry sales were down.
Blackberry needs to step up its browser and app game, to increase its appeal. The new Blackberry Bold 9700 is won't be enough, it's too incremental, and will only appeal to the corporate crowd.
It's all about the apps. Any phone can place a call, handle blue tooth and access voicemail, but what are the killer apps to create the demand. Hardware alone won't do it.

It's hard to kill something most people like. There's no way, this brillant individual, can devise an algorithim that will be able to produce answers to questions, except the most rudimentay. Heck most people don't even know how to formulate questions in manner a computer can understand. I won't believe Google is dead till I see the bodies.
Apple to Google, Palm: Do Not Rip Off Our iPhone IP [View article]
App's may be easier to develop, but again, just like the Palm was a hot selling device at one time, offering application and viral features, it's gone, because smartphones cam around. Teh iPhone is a great browser, but it's a compromise as far as a phone goes.
Should Apple Consider Buying Yahoo!? [View article]
some very interesting comments,
if AAPL were to buy Yahoo, they could bring clarity to Yahoo's messaging , and simplify their UI, however AAPL would need a search engine preceived to be better than Google's to make it work. The big problem is that it may divert too much attention from what they currently do it's natural progression towards a mobile knowledge communicator. A small box that we uses to make telephone and data communications and which we plug into a docking station to deal our everyday business and home work.
on buying skpye, makes no sense the margins are tough and would be cheaper to get into and more profitable to do partnership deal with Skpe or another.

Excellent article! Best way to judge the value of anything is relative to the alternatives. It's how we do appraisals in the real estate industry. You've made a good point about Apple being the best priced real estate in Fremont, but do I want to buy real estate in Fremont where the schools are great but prices haven't come down much or am I better off buying it in areas like Hayward where prices have dropped 50% or more.
If the economy continues to tank, toy purchases will decline, and AAPL will suffer from that, since it sells expensive toys. In your next article I'd like to see you write about how AAPl fared in previous downturns.
Google Phone: "Dream Phone" Might Be a Little Strong [View article]
when are the next 10 android phones coming out. it's just a matter of time before some comes out with a version that's lighter, simpler, faster, with a longer battery life, less radiation, more memory, etcs. Yes, Apple gets it first with software, but Google isn't dumb like Motorola, Samsung, and Nokia when it comes to UI. Margins will come down on smartphones, and they'll be commodities in two years.
this is what I love about Google! They put forth great proposals with goal of making the world a better place. I can't say I feel that way about Chevron, or SBC, or Halliburton who aren't interested in putting forth bold altruistic proposals.
