  • Tesla's Real Problem: Energy Density [View article]
Lithium Air seems to be the next up-and-coming technology, so imagine the the Gigafactory will probably end up producing those than just Lithium Ion batteries.

Energy densities of batteries have been doubling every 10 years, so one would believe this trend will continue and even improve with new technologies. Tesla isn't the battery developer, they are just the customer right now and, as Elon said in one press release, he has been approached with 5 different new battery technologies in the past two years, so he's probably going to go with what is best for his company and customers.

  • Tesla, Are We About To Be Surprised? [View article]
There is little need to send people to the pay station and high risk of sending people, so sending payload (satellites, etc) is less risky and more profitable.

Yah, but I doubt long-term deman for the X will stay three times of the Model S.

  • Tesla: What About The Model X? [View article]
I think this is a whole new segment of customers with minimal cannibalization of sales from the Model S. Personally, I would never buy the Model X, but love my Model S. It will probably cater more to suburban mothers or company transportation vehicles needing more room.

Now, when Tesla comes out with an EV pickup truck, I'll buy it!

  • Tesla: Free Patents For Everybody, Genius Idea Or Lunacy? [View article]
And once you have the industry following your lead on charging and battery technology, they are in line to become customers of the Gigafactory as it comes online for production, so two major wins for Tesla!

I didn't read that Tesla was giving away all patents, but only those that relate specifically to charging and the battery technology. This would allow the industry to adapt to Tesla's technology only increasing demand for Tesla vehicles...especially in Europe where there are complications interfacing with public charging.

Unfortunately, the politicians didn't bow to money in NJ as Tesla doesn't have anything to offer them compared to the Car Dealers Unions. Telsa called foul and the public demanded fair competition from their politicians.

That's the problem in Texas...the politicians are still catering the dealers association and sticking their head in the sand about competition and new technology.

Div, what's is more available than gas stations around the world?? Electrical sockets!! This rag tag group of militants is gaining a lot of ground and the ultimate goal is acquiring the wealth of's oil fields. Crude prices are up 6% in the past two weeks and soon we'll see those increases hitting the pumps.

Electricity prices are very stable compared to oil prices and the actual cost of electricity is about to start dropping with the proliferation of new solar technology. Our company is installing solar panels on our building for the first time ever and employees will be able to charge their EV's for free!

GM, et al are rushing to produce more hybrids and EV's each year. You can now get a Cadillac Hybrid, among another 20 or so hybrids by all the other manufactures. Nissan alone plans to deliver almost 50,000 LEAFs this year and offers 2 years of free refueling on them. The momentum to replace ICE vehicles is just beginning.

Granted, we are reducing our dependency on foreign oil, but these civil disputes still effect world-wide gas prices, which wreaks havoc on the markets. Eliminate the need for oil and what do these countries have left to offer?? Sand??? Dates and olives??

Tesla and other EV manufacturers need to be supported by regulators, politicians and consumers!

  • Tesla's Q2 Goes Down To The Wire As Well [View article]
Paulo, you're probably right on the stagnation of sales of the Model S because Tesla does not have the facilities to produce more cars. Most car companies that experience stagnation just increase their advertising, which obviously, Tesla cannot do since they cannot produce more cars at this point. I guess we would hope to hear from Musk when they expect to open their next car production factory and the capacity of this factory. Once sales catch up with demand, we would expect to actually see our first Model S and Model X commercials so the other 80% of the world will know what a Tesla is....

  • Tesla Will Lead In Self-Driving Vehicles [View article]
LOL! The Columbia could go 40 miles driving at 13 mph, but good point...why did the technology die? Why did Texaco kill the EV1? Battery technology was not where it needed to be until recently. GM even held out until batteries were cheap enough and light enough, then they rolled out the Volt. The time is prime for the battery powered car.

Few people want an electric car?? Shhh, don't tell the auto industry, as they are all running down the EV path behind Tesla. I sure don't miss standing in the cold rain at a gas station filling my car....plugging in is just too easy!

  • Tesla Headed To $260 In 2014: Is It A Socially Responsible Decision? [View article]
Good article and good at pointing at the future strength of their current weaknesses. Thanks. It's hard to predict how many of the SuperChargers and other charges will be partially or totally solar-powered, so the actual emissions from all EV's will continue to decline both short-term and exponentially long-term.

Right. They just have to pay for the delivery or pick up in a different state. I live in Texas, ordered mine on the internet and paid $900 for a personalized delivery to my front door. Haven't you noticed that most car dealerships charge you for transport/delivery?
