  • SuperCom discloses CFO's departure, closes Prevision deal  [View news story]
Was the CFO's departure in the pipeline already?

No reason given in the press release - seems all very 'matter-of-fact' as if it was already known she was leaving.

If it was not previously known then I am uncomfortable the company is so blase about it.

Yes - the "speaking with management" really helped to nail the "numbers that meet or beat estimates".

    What a load of drivel.

  • Samsung Adds To Micron Bulls' Worries  [View article]
No, the facts are that you are surmising Micron COULD have a (and I'll quote again) - "0% share in the iPhone 6S for the second half of the year".

This is then offset by asking Bobcat (and I'll quote again) "Where does the article say this or even suggest"... "that AAPL is going to sole source DRAM on the 6s to Samsung or anybody else".

It's there in black-and-white: please don't say that we should be pricing in the possibility of a 0% market share, and then pretend that you didn't actually say that.

    Thanks for the article Jonathan.

I am unclear as to your true underlying conviction here:

You note it is "probably" still a multi-bagger from here, but also believe it is a speculative play.

These statements, in current form, seem somewhat incongruous.

Would it be fair to say that to represent your view the the word "probably" should be replaced with "possibly"?

Bobcat: "There is no way that AAPL is going to sole source DRAM on the 6s to Samsung or anybody else."

Shock Exchange: "Where does the article say this or even suggest this?".

@ Shock Exchange - your article doesn't say it, but your earlier comment does....

( direct quote): "You believe that 0% share in the iPhone 6S for the second half of the year is already priced into the stock?".

Please don't throw this sort of muck around and then claim you haven't said it.

Yes, granted, but we are talking about dealing with a (very) small number of suppliers here.

Any company which DEPENDS on something from one/more of those suppliers on a regular basis would be foolish to purely employ a slash and burn policy because it leaves no room to manouevre when something unexpected happens.

    Such as the Wuxi fire.

IF Apple do not feel Micron unduly took advantage of them in that episode, then I don't believe Apple's next move would be to shaft Micron to an imprudent extent.

Otherwise, what happens as and when there is another supply side shock?

I would surmise that if Apple exerted their dominance too much, and placed an undue priority on price, to the exclusion of maintaining a healthy enough relationship with more than one supplier, then this is a potentially dangerous game to play.

Perhaps it as much priced in as a 30% share (or choose some other number)?

Is one significantly more likely than the other (your article aside).

12-18 mths ago wasn't Apple scrambling to shore up some short/medium term mobile DRAM supply from Micron? I find it hard to believe they'd be 'happy' to totally drop Micron such a short time later.... jumping from one horse to the other, en masse, would hardly seem a prudent course of action?

Not sure who question directed at, but if me, then No, I sold them from memory around $2.50 (on the way up - i.e. before they reached their peak).

I've not looked at them again since.

  • Amazon eyes crowdsourced delivery service  [View news story]
Its not a difficult concept for me at all. You and I just have dramatically different views on what might "make sense" to deliver via a drone.

Let alone whether widespread deployment of drones from any and all agencies delivering parcels (as surely Amazon is not so arrogant as to believe it could do this exclusively) is a starter in the first place...
