  • Determining The Top Stocks In Each Sector, With And Without Yield - Part 6, Telecommunications And Utilities Sectors [View article]
Much enjoy reading your general methodology. Do the same myself for hours a day. Wife says I need to get a life.

I keep coming up with ES (holding 2%) and STR. Can't pull the trigger on STR but it comes very close to your criteria and is listed as a Champ (36 years). Also holding SO and AEP.

FWIW, I also like Eversource, ES, (formerly NU). Dividend Contender, reasonable growth, nice buy if under $46.

  • Make A Monthly Ladder Of Dividend Income Payments With Stock Recommendations From My Portfolio [View article]
How do you manage all those stocks AND politely respond to all these comments?
Prior to my retirement I wondered if I would have enough invested in my IRA to enjoy what I worked so long to attain. All the articles about having millions put aside in order to survive. Yeah, right. Anyway, I suspect you will find things work out just fine, regardless of your "bumpy ride" divis. As you know, each year you will have to withdraw your RMD from your account. Mine runs about 4% (annually) of the value of my portfolio. I just divide that by 12, and the brokerage automatically sends that amount to my bank each month. So my budgeting then becomes a matter of watching my bank account, so no different than when I was working for that weekly paycheck.

I set up FRIPS for my grandkids, but I now think I would rather control what and when I buy additional shares.

  • My 'I Want To Buy' Stock List With Prices And Yields Desired For Purchase [View article]
It is always reassuring to see someone handling their portfolio in a way that is similar to our own, so thanks for that. I retired 3 years ago, and enjoy living the 4% (RMD) dream. I have been tuning my list for the last 2 months in an attempt to transfer some risk and add quality. Timing was fortunate, in that I had a reasonable amount of cash on hand during this current market circus. My list is purposely limited to 40 stocks, and is chosen from Mr. Fish's CCC List. Max positions are based on 5% each for Champs, 4% for Contenders, and 3% for Challengers. I also try to balance across 8 sectors. I sorted, then ranked the Lists according to my criteria (yield, safety, increases, growth, etc.). Adding target PE's and watching charts keeps me on track (+/-). So now I can more clearly see my goals. Always enjoy your articles and numerous thoughtful comments.

  • Forget Beaten Up Utilities, Buy This 7.1% Clean Energy REIT [View article]
As a point of clarification, your chart of "10 largest" includes a listing of Eversource, in which you indicated the ticker as "NU". Thought that was Northeast Utilities. Am I missing something?

Odd how my eyes glaze over when reading certain articles. I used to think it was glaucoma, but then I realized it only happens when reading about option trades. Great analysis on ED, in any case.

  • The New Nifty Fifty, Part 1 - Dividend Growth Style [View article]
Every once in a while I read an article in SA that just screams to be saved to my file of favorites. This is one of those. Such a wealth of info. As a retiree, I also attempt to guide my children and my grandchildren in the not-so-fine art of investing, and that requires that I keep switching hats. Your article nicely fits under all three hats! Thanks to you and your esteemed contributors.
