10 Green Energy Gambles for 2009: 3 Month Update [View article]
LETS GET REAL - wind, solar and geothermal are VERY SMALL part of electrical generation and Expensive and will not provide the increase we need in electrical generation - there are still in the first generation of developement - our only road to " KEEPING UP WITH DEMAND " is to increase COAL and NATURAL GAS production of electricity - it will take at least 12 years to overcome the political and " NOT IN MY BACK YARD " resistance to nuclear plants and another 10 years to get a nuclear plant built and in operation - we are like the family of a person who is dying waiting at bedside for the new cure to appear - put ALL THE FACT TOGETHER before you buy the answers the talking heads put out
GEE guys no one said anything about coal to liquids - the Air Force has already used coal to jet fuel in a B-52 and Sasol in South Africa has been making diesel from coal for years - the Germans in WW II made diesel from coal - lots of good things can be made from coal - don"t get caught up in the " GREENIES " assessment of things - most of them are always first in chow line never made a payroll - YOU MUST THINK AND KEEP UP WITH NEW AND OLD DEVELOPEMENTS

my post on " what happened todat " what happened today 3/20 - looks like Bear Stern jumped the gun by confessing to the worth of it's bad paper last week - Leyhman on the other hand stalled and therefore over the weekend learned it could take it's bad stuff to the window and exchange it for better stuff - so they kept their mouth shutg - who lost ????? THE TAX PAYERS - who won ????? the guys that made all the bad deals ( and paper ) and are already enjoying their ill gotten gains - there has to be a better way - no9 chance for those not well connected
blueeyedfool answered - why did the taxpayer lose and not Bear Sterns shareholders ?
I answered - the shareholders had plenty of time in the last several months to review Bear Stern holdings ( and get out ) - the taxpayers had someone else make the decision for them - and on the weekend
more - now the taxpayers are saddled with the loss - people need to realize just who the government is and who pays the governments bills - many paying for the good of the few
many different thoughts about the future of nuke power - when you think of all the alternatives there is only one answer for base load electricity in the future - yet we are stuck with our false impressions of the dangers of nuke plants - some day we will get smart - HOPEFULLY !!!!!!

buffett only took a 71% profit on his original investment which was very smart - an anualized profit of 17.75% - for a conservative investor that's a windfall - this is not a big deal - maybe ELI should have examined this IN DEPTH
