3 Gaming Stocks You Should Consider Buying [View article]
R.J. Chopin, from the 3 companies you mentioned only cool has a huge potential. Although I don't like management because of their poor investor relation work, the strategy they put in place is excellent.
Gluu never ever in all their company history posted a profit. Growth is not existent taking into account their 3 aquisitons. Cash burn is far too high and the business model with that level of dilution never can be healthy. Leaves the buyout argument which exists since 5 years. Nobody will buy it though.
Zynga is, similar to cool, a rocksolid healty company. I agree with the poster who wrote "too big to win". Also their dilution is excessive. Could be the highest of any company. The December quarter had 30% of revenues in shareholder compensation expenses, the March quarter 10% of revenues. No chance for a profit.
Leaves Cool for a big reward. Should rock soon imo.
As there is a lot of interest in the Disney partnership, one should not forget that Disney means many games.
3 Gaming Stocks You Should Consider Buying [View article]
I disagree with your comment on the CEO. He should be fired or step down like the EA CEO. The Sutton CEO is a loser, a buddy guy. Right after he appointed his cohort two years ago, the CFO loser, who needs ages to add numbers, the pps is in a continuous downtrend. That announcement alone would mean an immediate triple imo.
Bringing up the pps is no big task considering cash, Zumba and other top franchises. Anybody could do that. Its basically an "Just open your mouth" exercise, a simple investor relation exercise
Q2 finished today for COOL, numbers look good acc to Wedbush, Msft Xbox 720 announcement on May 21st, E3 early June, earnings release after E3. Not to forget the 2013 Line up which should be announced soon. NBA BB I would not count out yet.
Disney is big imo, because it covers all the consoles except Sony, all handheld and smartphone and tablets....Young justice legacy similar including sony...the Monaco game is only xbox, but worldwide release...the zumba sequel is a homerun...the silence from management about the other games is silly and childish...its known anyways...
Fire the management losers and we go up....or force the losers to open their mouth and we go up too....all is settled anyways
Can Zumba Fitness Give A Boost To Majesco Share Price In The Near Term? [View article]
The main difference between 2012 and 2013 is that 2012 had two Zumba sequel releases. 2013 will have one sequel only. This assumes the new Zumba game is Q4 release.
"If the game can attract both fitness gamers and dance gamers, it will be a huge proof in my opinion this strategy is taking off." Zumba moving beyond the fitness scene by entering the dancefloor scene is clearly a positive, simply because the dance audience is bigger. The Zumba LLC CEO targets 100 million (8fold current level) weekly participants.
Regarding new consoles is safe to assume that the new Zumba game will be released on both, the Wii and the Wii U (Nintendo announced that already). Also, the CEO confirmed it, depending on the Wii U performance. Regarding the xbox it has to be seen if the xbox720 has backwards capability and what the migration strategy of msft is. Clearly, the new Zumba fitness game will ship on existing consoles and, depending on market adaption, on the new consoles too.
"Finally, I personally think the management is really conservative regarding the outlook of the company and the stock price will not go under this level." Break even level is incredibly low now, to some extend because of the big cut in Management compensation (85% cut of bonus a.s.o.). Also, the high cash level allows all sort of actions. The addition to the license portfolio (Disney, American Idol) looks great, not to forget the focus on mobile.
Although the strategy makes full sense, it is time that the CEO and his cohort gets fired or leave voluntarily. That would almost ensure an immediate triple, minimum, on the shareprice, if not higher.
Some missing, not provided, facts January NPD data Wii: 1 Just Dance 4 2 Skylanders Giants 3 Zumba Fitness Core 4 Super Smash Bros. Brawl 5 Mario Kart Wii Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Super Mario Galaxy New Super Mario Bros. Wii LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes 10 Just Dance Disney Party
No mention of units for the flagship franchise this time, Zumba has surpassed 10M units in the meantime.
6 weeks ago, during the CC in January the CEO stated:
""Last week, we announced Phineas and Ferb, our working title, for retail consoles and gaming handhelds, including smartphones and tablets...We expect to announce additional details before the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2013.""
Lets see how he acts until end of March.
Excessive cash is fine, but it should be used in the best interest of shareholders and that means initiating a stockrepurchase program. This company, Zumba and all the other franchises, deserves a normal managment team imho. Hope we get rid of them asap.
Is It Time To Write Off Majesco Entertainment? [View article]
IMO, there is nothing to worry about. Management is poor regarding investor relations but will change tone now. Also, the Zumba story is not properly communicated imo...a 3 months picture does not take into account that the zumba base as such is growing substantially...
Zumba so far it was middle aged women, fitness oriented, meaning classroom and home....now zumba moves to the dancefloor too expanding the base.... http://bit.ly/13UvPhf
financially i would not call it a rough year. yes there is only one zumba sequel in 2013 vs 2012, but the loss projection is peanuts imo and does not effect cash...
lets see with what they will come up regarding Disney and American Idol...
With Q1 earnings to be announced next month, covering the "Holiday Season", there is one remark to be made on product costs.
The first time in Majesco`s history the holiday season is being entered without any amortization expense to be recorded. Reason being that all (new) games were released shortly before October end and all related development costs have been expensed completely. Only Flea Symphony will be expensed this Q1 2013 quarter. That is immaterial though. Also, all potential losses on NBA Baller Beats have been taken care of already last quarter. Nothing is to expected this quarter as correctly stated by the CFO.
IMO, that means, compared to Q1 2012 "Capitalized software development costs and license fees" should be lower by $10M. That would correspond to the $10M lower Capitalized software number in the balance sheet. Also that means, that Majesco will report a profit. $10M lower development costs is material and a first time ever event at Majesco.
Fiscal Q1 2013 will include the last 2 months of calendar 2012. VG chartz did an analyses of the WII for 2012 and did come up with the following ratings confirming the Cool leadership position
1. 5 Titles in the top 10 are third party "The third party publishers include two Ubisoft titles, two Majesco titles, and one Activision title."
2. Market share Top 10 "The two Ubisoft titles sold a combined 7.14 million units or 30.7 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The two Majesco titles sold a combined 3.60 million units or 15.5 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The one Activision titles sold 1.73 million units or 7.5 percent of the total games sold in the top 10."
3. Market share Wii Total "21.52 million games sold for the Wii in 2012 were first party, published by Nintendo. Ubisoft sold 11.82 million games for the Wii in 2012, Activision 6.71 million games, Majesco 4.11 million games, and Electronic Arts 3.43 million games."
Regarding the Kinect units sold Microsoft released some sales figures for the Xbox 360. "Microsoft has sold more than 76 million Xbox 360's worldwide, which is three times what the original Xbox sold. Also 24 million Kinect sensors have been sold since it launched." Impressive Kinect numbers IMO.
For Q1 2013 to be reported soon that means 1. Zumba dominance for the Wii will continue. Based on different consumer buying patterns Zumba should take the chartranking lead vs Just Dance for the Wii 2. XBox revenues for Majesco will be an All Time Record. The Kinect investment will pay off nicely in 2013.
Regarding the 3DS, Nintendo confirmed again last week that in March, we are also treated to multiple releases from Majesco. 6 Titles are announced by Nintendo to be released internationally by Majesco. The games and the corresponding release dates:
2012 Top 5 highlights to tell the story correct based on actual numbers reported
1. Record revenues for the Wii. 2. Record revenues for the Xbox 3. Record revenues international. +90% growth to $29M 4. Sharp declining revenues for the DS. +40% decline 5. Record units for Zumba
Great performance if compared to the physical retail market decline of 30% in the USA.

2012 vs 2011 (Q4 and Total Year) alternative analyses
Nintendo Wii: Q4 slight increase ($ 13,867 vs $13,415) 2012 increase of 8% ($ 79,014 vs $73,209)
Microsoft Xbox 360 Q4 increase 189% ($ 8383 vs $ 2901) 2012 increase 50% ($ 34,874 vs $ 23,235)
Nintendo DS Q4 decrease 52% ($ 3,601 vs $ 7,569) 2012 decrease38% ($13,743 vs $ 22,179)
Total Year 2012 up from Mil 125 to Mil 132=+Mil 7 (+Mil 6 Wii, +Mil 11.5 Xbox, - Mil 8.5 DS, -Mil 2 others)
Market physical retail down 30% as published by NPD. Online distribution and Games on Demand up big.
Conclusion: 1. Although the Wii was on constant decline throughout the Year, Cool was not effected. Cool could even increase Wii revenues, opposite the trend, thanks to Zumba 2. Xbox revenues grew almost 200% for the Quarter and 50% for the Year 3. Sharp decline on the DS, $ Mil 8.5 ( 40%) for the Year, which easily could be offset by the growth for the Wii and the xbox.
Productwise Zumba Wii performed great. Xbox Q4 growth was due to NBA Baller Beats. Lousy kids DS/3DS performance was due to the lack of any new product offerings combined with the deterioration of the DS. Hello Kitty as well as Monster High kicked in only this quarter. 3DS consumer adoption should help too.
Bottom line: There was no reason to cry all year. Be happy.
So far the Zumba Units have been clarified as well as the 2012 performance.
Time to review the CC and correct it in a first step, where appropriate, in order to analyse in a second step. Neither the former (???) IR Director Todd Greenwald nor the 2 new IR girls from LHA were/are handling it properly imo from a sanity check perspective.
A. IMVHO, the biggest franchise, Zumba, has to be dealt with in a more rational and factual way numberwise
Managemnet says "we....are proud that the Zumba Fitness franchise remains the second largest fitness franchise in the entire video game industry and has now sold over 8 million units. Fact: 1. Management stated that already beginning of September last year in the last earnings report (4 months ago). As of today we are obviously many millions higher. 2. The annual 10k filed documents the lack of sanity, because it says at the beginning of the 10k under " Leverage success of our existing franchises." "Zumba Fitness games have sold over 8 million units worldwide."
just to say a few sentences later under "Products" "Zumba Fitness was introduced in November 2010 and, to date, has sold over seven million copies worldwide."
Conclusion: These mistakes on units should not happen considering the time they need to file the 10k and the importance of the Zumba franchise. We talk basic financial analyses methods.
As such the correction of Managments statement about the Zumba units is as follows ----- Zumba Fitness franchise has now sold over 8 million units AS OF OCTOBER 2012----
B. Managment commented correctly on the great monthly Zumba Core numbers published by NPD. Imo, they should have commented on total 2012 too. Lets do it as addition to the CC.
2012 Top 10 for the Wii are as follows (January 2012-December2012, published by NPD)
1. Just Dance 4 2. Just Dance 3 3. Mario Party 9 4. Zumba Fitness 2 5. Super Mario Galaxy 6. Skylanders Giants 7. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes 8. uDraw Studio: Instant Artist 9. Wii Sports 10. Skylanders Spyro's Adventure
C. Apart from these corrections/additional info the numbers are more or less correct. The low inventory number in combination with the slightly higher factoring number suggests that there was some last minute push which had to be worked off in this quarter. Dont think it was higher than $mil 5 though.
