  • Enterprise Products says current prices do not support crude oil exports  [View news story]
Saudi production costs are significantly lower than the U.S. do volume increase makes up net profit. plus our supposed allies seek to shut our production via fracking and deep water drilling to bring back market control to OPEC. In the long run, this will fail. Why? We will continue to improve the efficiencies of transportation vehicles that use petroleum for fuel. Oil will continue to remain in surplus in the long run. But EPD is primarily in pipelines transportation, so the low commodity pricing of oil really does not impact their profitability. Oil is fungible, so transportation is the money maker. EPD's long term risk comes from technology changes, like significant improvement in nano tech silicon batteries that will yield cost and performance of electric vehicles.

  • Prospect Capital: Fear-Mongering Doesn't Help, Consider The Facts  [View article]
There are only 3 concrete inputs that value a stock. They are fear. greed. and hope. The driver right now is fear, based almost solely on crude oil prices. So the sheep run to the slaughter pens and sell. Smart money stays long on Prospect.

  • Crude oil closes below $40, no relief in sight for oil industry pain  [View news story]
EPD is primarily a well run transportation, I.e. pipelines, company. The oil and natural gas keep moving no matter the commodity price. EPD will continue to make money and pay dividends. so I stay long on EPD.

From my perspective, PSEC is a long play with great dividends. like any other investment, one should monitor for major changes. However a single quarter's performance is nothing to get your pants in a was one way or the other.

  • Many MLPs will need to delay or scrap capital spending plans, analyst says  [View news story]
until the general economy of the world picks up everyone will have to be careful with capex. file midstream energy companies rely upon transportation and are not truly affected by the price of oil the demand, for energy products will affect their throughput revenue. they're still in the long run a good investment.

  • CVR Refining Is Hatching Its Next Spectacular Dividend  [View article]
I chose CVRR almost strictly for the dividends as opposed to trading on the swings in pricing ( which if you're not worth a ton of money and have the ability to high speed trading ) is a recipe for disaster. There is some risk to crack spread degredation, but with the technologies used today to recover crude, I don't think that there will be a significant rise in crude, plus CVRR has some transportation capability to source crude from a number of independent wells. Also, keep in mind that if crude rises, refiners pass the cost downstream, maintaining their margins.

While any investor should feel obligated to monitor the business environment that their investments operate in, I think that CVRR is a good hold and if your DRIP your dividendends the returns are awesome over time.

    Yep I'm long on CVRR
