  • Tesla: Can We Talk? [View article]
    1. All cash do not qualify for buy-back as this was an incentive for finance with WF/US Bank.

    2. Charging station are NOT a drain on margins. They are a capital expenditure and cheap advertising. 200 stations in the U.S. will cost $50M. Consider that Ford spend $5B last year on advertising.

    3. If another manufacture beats Tesla . . . when do you project this is going to happen? If it happens in 5 years, then it doesn't matter.

    4. Tesla's success is inviting competition already. The problem is that the i3 is a hybrid. i8 hybrid. Porsche Spyder . . . hybrid. Lexus . . . hybrid. Shall I continue?

    5. Tesla is currently expanding their repair facilities. What is your point. Check their website http://bit.ly/18GSBsp The white "pins" are COMING SOON.

    6. Improved technology always makes older models less desirable. This is a truism in EVERY business. How does this affect Tesla in some new and special way? BTW Tesla upgrades their operating system to improve the experience unlike every other car on the road.

    7. Excess depreciation doesn't mean anything in this context. You haven't proven "excess".

Unless you start your opinion piece with the following, then you don't understand Tesla:

Tesla makes the best and safest car ever produced by a car company.

They have a technological moat of at least three years around them that their competitors have never accomplished.

None of the major automakers (except Nissan) are convinced that pure electric is the future.

Tesla is the only car company that solves range anxiety with Superchargers.

You really need to get out once in a while. I've charged my MS at 5 different Superchargers on the way from the factory to Los Angeles. Fremont, Gilroy, Atascadero, Buelton and Hawthorne.

    All free.

    All fast.

It seems like someone doesn't want to face reality but it doesn't agree with their preconceived notions.

Perhaps you should read about Tesla's performance in winter conditions:

Then the opening for every article recommending shorting a stock should go like this:

Tesla makes the best and safest car every produced by any car company. They have a technological moat of at least three years around them that their competitors have never accomplished.

None of the major automakers (except Nissan) are convinced that pure electric is the future.

Tesla is the only car company with an answer for range anxiety with their Superchargers.

THEN you can write how they won't be able to procure batteries, or there isn't enough lithium in the universe or the grid won't support EVs or Congress is drafting legislation mandating oil in breakfast cereal. Whatever lame unoriginal shorting idea that we didn't read 6, 12, 18 months ago.

    @Embryorambo,

The "powers that be" are not the tiny automaker.

They are EXXON, SHELL, BP, KOCH Bros. etc. They represent trillions of dollars.

Tesla @20B is decimal dust. They have been fighting the above agents and their bankers.

Lest we forget, Tesla was one of the top 3 most shorted stocks for most of 2012 and parts of 2013.

Nobody can argue that the current share price assumes that TM hits it out of the park.

But all of the data keeps going in the direction of improvements.

EU, China, Hong Kong. Then Japan and Australia.

What about the rest of the world. Haven't even cracked those markets.

The car sells itself with a test drive and then new owners sell it for free. Think of another product that has that kind of brand loyalty?

You try foreboding based on historic similarities and I'll look at this graph and these numbers.

    http://bit.ly/17LzyvU

you'll see that production and VIN assignment is surpassing 600/week.

    Highest VIN issued 21350.

No test drives of the Model X yet. They send one from store to store to display. There's also one on display at the Supercharger/Design Studio in Hawthorne, CA.

Congrats on reserving a Model S.

  • The pros and cons of buying a Tesla [View news story]
There are already MANY parking garages with preferential charging in the first few spots in the lower level in Manhattan.

    http://bit.ly/17efkeo

Attendants swap the charged cars for the cars needing charging.

Just like the Superchargers bring in customers, parking garages in Manhattan are jumping at the chance to market themselves to high-end luxury cars.

It took me 30 seconds on Google to find charging and parking. Maybe if I got a partial lobotomy, I could write for the NYT.
