  • The Nokia Shorts Were Right All Along, And Fatally Wrong At The Same Time [View article]
I really enjoyed this, Seppo you're now on my watchlist!

Just wanted to point out that for many shareholders NOK was also a very emotional long, and the MSFT deal has fundamentally disappointed a lot of these folks on a subjective, visceral level.
This may translate into limited upside for now, despite the rosier valuation for the 'new' NOK.
    Best wishes.

  • A European Camel Is A Horse Made In Committee [View article]
    Germany can be very persuasive.
We're on the road to a full banking/monetary union, and the more encompassing this becomes, the greater the momentum for further integration in other areas. Sovereignty in incremental steps is simply further down this same road.

    Nice read.

  • Nokia's (NOK) fortunes have reached a new nadir after it lost the lead in its home country of Finland to Samsung, IDC estimates. Nokia's market share cratered to 33.6% from 48% in 2012 and 65% as recently as 2010, while that of Samsung increased to 36.1% in Q1 2013 from 28% a year earlier. [View news story]
Losing Finland but gaining India and China.
    Hmmm...
    I'll stick to long NOK!

  • Nokia Lumia: No Killer Apps, Investors Lose [View article]
The title alone was enough reason to guess who wrote this fodder and skip it.
However I do wish to contribute 1cent to his ailing AAPL account, hoping that this capital injection will encourage him to keep his AAPL shares a little longer. :)

  • How To Properly Manage A Company's Cash Hoard [View article]
Understandably, after the recent stock debacle, Aapl would be keen to inject some investor interest by splitting to more affordable prices, however this interest along with options volatility seems set to increase anyway as soon as retail piles into the minis coming online by March opex.
This succinct article does fine work in pointing out the sounder alternatives Aapl should follow, if for no other reason than to amend the not-so-flattering image of a company hoarding Smaug-sized treasure-piles out of insecurity and contrary to the interests of their adoring fan-base, ..errr, loyal investors that is.

  • Sell Nokia, Take Profits. [View article]
Kudos to the author for being consistent, opinionated, and sticking to his guns. I wish him and his share positions all the best, although $450 and falling might begin to arouse a slight uneasiness in the back of my mind.

As far as useful advice goes and following his established trend, future Kofi articles need simply contain a negative headline, tag NOK and AAPL next to the disclaimer, and contain absolutely no text save a strong sell NOK suggestion before the comments section.
Eventually, one of these blank entries will be correct, I suspect around the time when NOK is priced in triple digits and a voice of reason needs awaken its resilient shareholders from their blissful slumber.

  • Nokia Upgrades Will Create More Upside [View article]
I can think of no instance when doing the opposite of GS guidance did not net me a tidy profit. In my view this is irreplaceably investor friendly, lol!

  • New York's AG has filed a civil complaint against JPMorgan Chase (JPM), alleging widespread fraud in the sale of mortgage-backed securities in the run-up to the financial crisis. The suit relates to billions of dollars of subprime securities issued by Bear Stearns' before its takeover by JPM, and is the first brought under the authority of a law enforcement group formed by President Obama in January to pursue alleged wrongdoing during the financial crisis. More cases are expected to follow. Shares -0.8% AH. [View news story]
That should get granma's vote. Good timing,

  • Hasbro's 'Magic: The Gathering' And The Year Ahead [View article]
As a longtime Magic enthusiast and participant in National and Pro-Tour level MtG events, I can personally vouch for the addictive quality of this chess-poker incarnation. Hasbro have a great product that can morph into everything a gamer has ever desired, over and over again.
    Great article!!!

  • Nokia: An Opportunity In A Globally Recognized Brand [View article]
To settle what is known as the "IP misunderstanding" Apple paid Nokia more than $600M plus an estimated $11.50 per iPhone sold.
That's a nice little sales tax to keep the cash coming in.
Apple misunderstandings or Samsung patent-infringements not-withstanding, it looks increasingly likely that Nokia the company will survive on a stick-save by the Lumia, with all the upside that should portend for NOK the stock.
After seeing the 920 and the release details, I'm an optimistic long.

  • Understanding Smartphone Strategies By Breaking Down Phone Specifications [View article]
    A good, useful read.
I don't think any reasoning human believes that AAPL will actually fail or lose market leader status anytime soon, however if we're here to acquire knowledge (=cash!) then NOK should indeed interest us in anticipation to possible upside advantage over AAPL.

  • Nokia World's Lumia Launch Is Another Elop Flop [View article]
The first four words of the disclosure rendered the rest of the text on this page predictable and irrelevant.
Disclosure: I am long NOK, and although I guess this disclaimer just made my reply also predictable and possibly irrelevant, it will also apply to the multi-billion Chinese market, once it discovers the price/value advantages of the Lumia versus other, local-made i-devices.

  • Nokia Getting A Lot Of Heat For Filming A 'Fake' Ad [View article]
Awful Lumia presentation, flagrant advertising misrepresentation.
Result : 'everyone' talking about Nokia these days.
The marketing team have done their Jobs better than Elop could ever have hoped for. NOK turnaround now looking more likely than ever.
    Great phone, by the way!

  • Why A Grexit Is Not Going To Happen [View article]
Apparently Frau Merkel's latest rhetoric is in complete agreement with the premises laid out in this article, to the point of reining in her subordinates' mere public mention of a possible Grexit as counterproductive. It appears that should Greece adhere to certain of the key conditions dictated by the troika, such as reducing the bloated public sector and bringing down the shadow economy to a more normalized EU average, and provided Greek bank recaps proceed smoothly, a major corner will have been turned in re-aligning German political necessities with much-coveted voter sentiment.
Remains to be seen whether the medicine itself manages to kill the patient, as by this time next year the entire Med will be convulsing on austerity overload, begging for the Sp-Port-It-Gre-exits to end the misery.
