Interesting and somewhat evidence based. Thanks for the article.

  • At Least Yahoo's User Engagement Numbers Are (Sort Of) Up [View article]
I think Yahoo is not too bad, but their comment sections do demonstrate the drawbacks of complete unregulation.

  • American Monetary Lessons From Japan's Last 2 Decades [View article]
Maybe the best thing we can learn from Japan's economy is its education system. There is near 100% attendance at up to high school levels and a hierarchy at the college and post-graduate positions. Colleges also have high percentages of students who major in sciences, engineering, accounting, and teaching. Unfortunately, a general education is a cultural priority unlike here.

BoJ does what it can, but it's running backwards up an escalator. Perhaps they have been able to weather the storm because of a combination of corporate nationalism and worker adaptability.

  • New Yahoo (YHOO) CEO Scott Thompson is preparing to carry out a round of "across the board" layoffs, claims a source familiar with his plans. The source adds Thompson is more interested in boosting margins than revenue growth. Based on 2011 estimates, Yahoo currently generates annual revenue of ~$323K/employee, well below the ~$1.17M/employee generated by Google (GOOG).  [View news story]
There is still plenty of room in the content arena, and they have some advantage in those two areas as well as some others, but there is so much stuff on their page that they can drop and they need to stop being home to all the internet trolls.

Certainly hope this is not true. The fastest way to destroy this company is to focus on extracting higher margins from declining revenue. Company still has 3.2 rating on glassdoor, but I think this would be hurt by across the board layoffs.

  • Microsoft, Nokia Have A Real Chance Of Disrupting The Smartphone Market [View article]
RIM has two remaining hardware features that have yet to be replicated in a meaningful way: the keyboard and the trackball. The RIM data network is of some value now, but will have very little value in 2-3 years. Potential buyers should really consider whether these are worth the considerable premium at the current price. Declining businesses often have managements that are looking for the first way out, and Microsoft should try to avoid being the next HP with its buy of Palm.

  • The Daily Options Strategy Part 5: Final Notes, Charts And Alternate Stocks To Use [View article]
Thanks for continuing to answer these questions. In the Direxion chart, I see that the bollinger bands are separating at the time of the call buy, but how do you make the determination to buy at that time versus 2 or 4 minutes earlier when the stock is below the lower bolinger band and the other indicators are also oversold?

  • Wynn Resorts Is Currently A Great Opportunity [View article]
It seems that CF is in a similar situation, though maybe corn futures have a worse outlook. I see that you are long CF calls, what do you think the 6 month outlook is for that vs WYNN?

  • The Daily Options Strategy Part 4: More Charts, Tips, And Insight [View article]
For CF at 11:26 today, would you consider this a hug or a real buying opportunity? If it is, would you rate it as weak or strong? Do times where the FSO is above 80 for a long period of time indicate anything in particular?

    Thanks!

  • A Daily Options Trading Strategy For High-Flying Stocks [View article]
Hi Kevin, was with you on the BIDU at 12:36 put, but my entry point was 13.1 and thus couldn't exit at 12:48 (only made it to 13.5 and it fell into a channel after that). How do you trade when your .6 target isn't reached and the overbought window closes? Thanks again.

I virtual traded AAPL at 12:14 and it worked out, though not immediately. From what I have seen over the past week, the sudden drop in MFI to 0 (or <10 like some say) has been a good indicator of being oversold. At that time of the day, AAPL was getting hammered on rumors and there had not been any real news. Knowing the macro news and company news is very important as Kevin has stated.
