  • Commodities Today: Dips To Buy On The Russia/Ukraine News [View article]

Do you think CHK is near its bottom (presently below $25) or is more decline to come? Thanks.

  • The 'Crowd' Is Bullish Gold And Silver: Should You Be? [View article]

Thanks for another article. I look forward to them each week. Either I'm better understanding your points or your writing is improving, because your arguments and analyses are clear to me. Perhaps all of the debate you get each week has the unintended benefit of improving your arguments and writing. I would guess that you are the most read author on precious metals on SA. Keep the articles coming.

  • SandRidge Energy: Execution Remains The Key, Valuation Still Not Compelling [View article]
RW- A good strategy except SD is not a dividend stock. So it has been painful to hold it for so long without any gain (and some loss). It has been a disappointing stock for many, primarily because of the behavior of management. I continue to hope that it can catch a wave upwards or that a suitor comes by and buys it.

  • The Stars (And Russian Troops) Are Aligned For Higher Gold Prices [View article]
Thanks, Tim for another good article. It does appear that present circumstances are favorable for a sustained rally. Interestingly, however, there is a division of opinion as some believe that this rally will soon top and lead to another leg down. I've lightened my positions some just in case we do get an unexpected reversal. Indeed, I'm kind of hoping that we do get some level of decline or pullback so I can add to or take certain positions (especially SLW and RGLD), as well as shop around for some final deals with physical gold. We'll see. In the meantime, I appreciate your articles and would encourage you to continue to write them!

  • SandRidge Energy: Execution Remains The Key, Valuation Still Not Compelling [View article]
Thanks for your article, PricePoint. It is most consistent with my perspective about SD, and I have been a shareholder for a while. SD will have to overcome and outlive the corruption of its past President and the folly of its current leadership (for giving too much money and deference to the past President), as well as dodge potential legal problems that may still arise from those decisions. As a result, SD may take a while to really turn around. I've heard about Cooperman's position and all sorts of other arguments, which have done little to date. At the end of the day, I think SD will need to avoid further governance/legal problems and get past the issues you identify to really get this stock off the ground. I just hope that will come sooner rather than later.

  • Hold These Drillers For Big Gains [View article]
Thanks, TakeFive. You're obviously a Dave Brubeck fan, so you have good taste. I'm on a similar tact with NE. I entered my position just above $30. If it goes down to below $28.50, I may take another position. Otherwise, I will ride it out and depend upon the dividend should the drillers remain depressed and/or the market goes down.

Thanks, Rickknott, for the explanation. I had also thought that drillers had been beaten down enough already but maybe there are a lot of folks shorting who think otherwise. In any event, I am long NE mostly because I think it is a decent dividend and has more upside potential than downside. Let's hope the markets think so as well.

  • Will Russia Continue To Affect Gold And Silver Prices? [View article]

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I'm still chewing on it, but it does help to understand what underlies your EW analysis and why another wave of negative sentiment may be coming. I'm still struggling with how you capture that sentiment for markets that don't trade the GLD etf. In other words, how do you capture that sentiment for other global markets who are active participants in the gold and silver market but may not be participating in GLD?

I take it that this analysis can be applied in all aspects of the market including stocks. Do you know of anyone who does similar EW analysis for the market? It seems that market sentiment, at least here in the US, may be ready to shift, and I'd like to see what EW analysis says about that.

Thanks again. I appreciate you taking so much time to outline your explanation.

Thanks for the responses. I'll be curious to learn what is driving the deteriorating rates and how it affects NE (as opposed to the other drillers). In the meantime, my entry point was just a little over $30, so I'll see if this takes another leg down and maybe add to my position. Are there any analysts that have recently projected a target price for NE?

  • Valero Energy Corporation: A Long-Term Buying Opportunity In A Dividend Stock [View article]

Thanks for your article. I've liked and owned VLO for a while. A solid company. I'm curious whether you might also recommend MPC. While it may not have as low a trailing PE as VLO, it does have spinoff opportunities similar to what VLO did with CST (which benefited shareholders greatly). I presently own a small position with VLO and am considering adding to it or open a position with MPC. Thanks.

Anyone know why NE is selling off this morning? It is down about 3.5% and going lower. I can't find any news about it. Is there a substantive problem or might this be an opportunity to add to a position? Thanks.

Anyone know what is up with NE this morning? It is down abut 3.5% and I'm not able to find our why. A good time to accumulate more shares or is there something substantively wrong with the stock? Thanks.

  • Why Prem Watsa Of Fairfax Financial Put 15% Of His Portfolio Into SandRidge Energy [View article]
As an investor who has held this stock for a while, I can only hope that Watsa's large stake, Leon Cooperman's confidence, continued instability in the Ukraine, or a special visit from the Easter bunny will get this stock higher!
