  • Apple: Mac Sales Delivered Increased Market Share But Still Posted Negative Growth [View article]
First, Apple has not released numbers yet, so this is all just speculation. Second, if not having a touchscreen is hurting macbook pro sales, why is Apple increasing market share? Shouldn't they be losing market share? Third, the ipad pro is more likely to compete with the Surface pro. People switch to a mac because it's a much better operating system than windows. No crashes, slow downs, or constant updates. Updates are far less frequent and much, much faster.

  • Windows 10 Shaping Up To Be A Disaster For Microsoft Shareholders? [View article]

  • Apple: Mac Sales Might Benefit From Lenovo's Superfish Scandal [View article]
I switched to a mac from windows based pc not because of privacy issues but because I was tired of crashes, slowdowns, constant updates both from windows and mcaffee, and several security issues in spite of firewalls and constant scanning.
It's been a year now and I have had no problems. I love my macbook air and I can do pretty much anything on it that I did on a pc.

  • Apple's Dirty Little Rare Earth Secret [View article]
Why single out Apple, here? All companies that use lithium batteries or produce smart phones etc. are dependent on China for these rare earth elements, but there are companies like Molycorp as well as companies in Canada and South America that will soon be producing REE's. At this point, buying stock in these companies is very risky, but they could pay off eventually.

  • Apple's WiFi Firestorm: Not A Threat, But Could Lead To An Acquisition [View article]
absolutely no issues on my macbook air. I'm a very happy convert from windows. no crashes or slowdowns or daily updates that may or may not install properly. I didn't know this world existed. I will, however stick with mavericks until issues are resolved with yosemite.

  • GT Advanced jumps; Apple reportedly looking to expand sapphire facility [View news story]
Everyone is assuming that Apple is just going to use sapphire for iPhone screens. That doesn't really make sense. Gorilla glass is much cheaper. I think there is something much bigger in the works. Just sayin'

I own 'em both and tesla as well. It's a win/win for Apple and GTAT. I've got a strong feeling something big is coming. I'm just saying.

  • Peeking At Apple's Upcoming Earnings [View article]
That's why we need guys like you, Dom. Go ahead and short APPL.
Seriously, though, the .com bubble was so obvious. People were paying outrageous prices for companies that had little or no chance of making a profit, just because they were associated with the internet.
APPL, on the other hand is making money hand over fist. If they stumble (and of course they eventually will) I will buy all I can. It's a great company.

  • Buy Gold On The Fed Fuddle [View article]
Does anyone really believe the fed is not going to further monetize the debt? The reason the economy has recovered as much as it has, is government stimulus. It certainly hasn't come from the private sector. The fed isn't stupid. They know all they have to do is hint at policy change to move the markets one way or another. I think they probably felt a correction was in order at this point. Things can change in an instant. I'm buying stocks and gold on the dips.

  • Molycorp (MCP +3.8%) shares are moving up on heavy volume after Pres. Obama, the EU and Japan ask the WTO to help increase China's exports of rare earths. But Dahlman Rose notes that given the massive drop in rare earth prices YTD, a negative WTO ruling may have no meaningful impact on prices. AVL +3.6%, REE +10.7%.  [View news story]
If China does increase exports, the price of rare earths should drop even more. If they don't, prices should stay about the same. MCP and the rest probably have a bright future, but not for a while.

  • Investors Have Little To Fear From Apple's Earnings Miss [View article]
Agreed. A bubble is only a bubble if there's no solid reason for the rise in price. I love the technicians but sometimes they're a hoot. If apple's not at $500 by Feb. I'll eat my portfolio.
