      Going Back to Natural Gas
      Hi Dave,
Had not heard of it, and its market cap is smaller than what I typically cover. Doesn't mean it won't be the best natural gas stock in the coming year or 5 years - just smallish. There are so many of these E&P companies you need to be a full time analyst just to keep them straight. Everyone is running to Marcellus shale - it's like a gold rush. Thanks.

      Coal is the Next Fertilizer
Thanks Pachanguero; I get a lot of grief on this site since most people have a timeline of 2 hours instead of 2 months. Plus everyone makes perfect trades except for me apparently :)

Maluman you have to do what is best for you. My general advice is to layer in (and out) of positions, buy in pieces. But I would personally not chase huge runs like this - in fact I've been cutting back the past 2 weeks. I'll be buying on the next major pullback.

I like RIO for iron and own it as well. CLF as well.
met coal is just getting started.

      Avl, excellent comment

Financial Illiteracy is so rampant (among other kinds) in this country. If its not a sound bite in 30 seconds (most) Americans don't want to hear it. Government starts from the people - take a Ron Paul; he holds more knowledge of economics in 1 fingernail than 99% of other congressman yet is laughed off as a loony. Obama tries to explain something that cannot fit into a 30 second sound bite and he is labeled "elitist".

We get what we deserve. We want a stupid person who we'd like a beer with to run our district, govt, and country. We are succeeding.

Trimming Trina on Solarfun's Beat and Suntech's Earnings
Actually I thought this was a nice near term call, I got back my shares earlier today, (some of them) around $48 and more now at $46

I don't see any issue with trading a sector where most stocks have risen 30,40,50% in a few weeks. A pullback was inevitable. Nothing straight up. Or down. Good day sir(s).

Canpotex Port Expansion Is yet Another Catalyst for Fertilizer
Michael, IPI could surprise simply because the first earnings report (or two) after IPO usually analysts are caught flat footed - that said, its rich in valuation.

As for MOS/POT it is all dependent on if they hold their 50 day moving average - both are right near it and have been basing for a month
      MOS $120
POT $185 (POT has been relatively stronger)

I see a gap in MOS back near $110 I've been waiting a while to fill

I do believe when oil reverses the whole kitchen sink will be thrown out and we have possibility to buy these stocks lower. I don't know the exact number because the market overreacts. I would just layer in (and out) - in during panic, out during euphoria. These are very long term stories and we'll have many periods of panic and euphoria to benefit from.

I wouldnt classify CMP with the rest - CMP is mostly salt :)

Yingli Green Energy Fueled by Strong Quarter
Jack, last Q was very good performance by management but spotty record before that. I always hold my breath with these guys BUT the chart is looking like CSIQ 2 weeks ago and SOLF about 4 days ago. What a move by SOLF..... TSL getting cheaper by the minute.

I only hope this solar run is not about be done - by the time the 3rd tier junk stocks like HOKU and DSTI start running like they did today, that usually signals the sector is about topped out within a few days.

As for the PR release, again - they are Trina, what more can we say for those who follow this company for a long time.

      Closing LDK Solar, Keeping Trina
Nick I'll be long LDK later in the year. For now there are much easier plays in solar and I believe in money management. Sitting in a stock that I believe will trail its peers and or is only going up due to the sector enthusiasm is not where I'm going to focus my money.

As for LDK everyone (almost) who bought from Oct 07 is either deep underwater, or flat at best except for some who piled in during the March lows through April and I'd argue there have been many stocks (solar or otherwise) which provided far greater return since the March lows. Everything has gone up since the March lows.

Spicer, if you go to RIG website you see many rigs of 5K depth that Transocean classifies as " other deepwater" as opposed to their select group of "ultra deepwater"

      www.deepwater.com/fw/m...

Hence why I consider ATW to be ok to be a "deepwater" play with 3 of 8 rigs in that area.

That said, you are right about the usefulness of their application at Tupai

buyforeclosures, Jack basically picked out the name.

SOL is not a good comparison - you'd have to compare that with LDK.

SOLF and YGE and STP now trade at double the TSL valuation (using forward estimates). I'd argue TSL will have the better margins this year out the 4, yet lowest margin.

I think TSL will be showing $4+ EPS by end of year now that their polysilicon plant is off the table. As Jack said, there is no compelling technological difference that X company should trade at 2x peers. This is not FSLR where you have a unique technology.

Jack great call on CSIQ by the way. I was too busy berating management for their luxurious grants last year to come back and take another look.

      Spicer,

Thanks for the correction on Noble - I wrote it as Noble Energy in paragraph 1, but Noble in paragraph two so it was an error in paragraph one (with correct stock symbol)

As for your 4-5 miles comment you are a stickler for words - I wrote "in the ocean" at "depths of 4-5 miles" - I didnt say "4-5 miles of ocean depth" - yes?

Correct on ATW - I believe they have 3 rigs doing 5k. Not being a wordsmith such as you are, my commentary was a general "ocean drilling" (not jack up) play. Not just the deepest drillers of which there are very limited quantities (21). When you move to the next group down, ATW would be thrown into that group (being a small player)

I suggest starting a blog, it fills the days much easier than picking through sentence structure and typoes ;) But I do agree on the ATW.

Phat Phat, you may be correct - probably jumped a bit too soon but I am only in about 60% of my intended allocation. But again its about timeline, over the next week or two we probably could see some material weakness.

These names have switched from "about to break out" to "about to break down" about 6 times in the past 4 sessions so it could go either way at this point. Longer term no question though...
