  • Should You Put All Of Your Eggs In Apple's Basket? [View article]
This is one of the most humorous but also saddest comment threads I've read after a lot of lurking on SA. Anonymous posting surely frees people to opine in ways they’d never attach to their name.

Many of the above comments are self-congratulatory nonsense and the authors lack the honesty to admit they were mostly lucky. Yes, AAPL is "winning"; Congratulations. But admit the obvious: AAPL will not be the hottest thing on planet Earth forever. For you people who type mightily that you're aware of every fart blown at Apple HQ (possibly the most secretive company in the USA): give me a break!

More generally, the fact that investing 100% in AAPL has been financially beneficial lately in no way legitimizes such an investment strategy in general – it rationalizes your decision after the fact. One or two or ten instances of an outcome do not prove anything.

The funniest thing I've learned about the stock market and the people involved with it: no one is successful forever. Every big mouth eventually eats humble pie. Maybe that's why Warren Buffett stays fairly modest.

Now, in keeping with the best traditions of the internet, shower me with rationalizations and ad hominem!

Disclosure: I am long AAPL and honesty.

  • Is Apple About To Become Netflix? [View article]
I hope for the sake of AAPL shareholders that Apple measures several times before it cuts any checks for content acquisition. The company has practically become the definition of profitability without ever trying to manufacture that sort of product. If I owned AAPL shares, this sort of possible future would have me thinking about selling while I am still rich.
