  • WSJ: H-P breaking up into two companies [View news story]
use Libre Office at your own risk. Had to use this at another company - it was an adjustment I would not want to do again. Open Source has a lot of great things, but Libre Office / Mail is not one (imho)

  • Bank Of America's Cycle Of Addiction [View article]
I get where you are going with this, but when reading the details of the latest fine and what it is for, is this really that concerning?? (...and to this you'll say, but its one more thing to be concerned about, I know)

"the bank processed $91,192 worth of transactions from 2005 all the way up to March 2009, which amounts to a total of 208 transactions related to narcotics trafficking. These bank accounts belonged to six people whom the Treasury had flagged as traffickers."

They processed $91k over 4 years (208 transactions)?? [that is $437.50 on average - good luck tracking those over your entire customer base]. Not a good thing for sure, but compared to what we've seen from other organizations (funds from Iran, etc.) - this is seems like an oversight at worst.

BAC has far worse things to be held accountable for, and is being held accountable for.

The fines will go away in time. Those that bought in from 2009 on have been, and will continue to be, rewarded for holding on.

  • EPA rule on fish kills at plants angers environmentalists, pleases utilities [View news story]
@embryo. sounds great, if you ignore the costs of coastal cities being underwater. Moving highways and coastal infrastructure...sounds a lot cheaper than a few extra cents for electricity. Based on your comment though, I'm not sure why I would both responding.

  • Google Semantic Search Vringo's Next Play? [View article]
majority of companies don't settle without language to keep these agreements confidential. You need to look to the coming quarterly filings to tease the numbers out. I would suggest those that don't have the stomach for this look elsewhere (i.e. not in IP Patent plays).

BofA $8.5 billion deal to go forward; AIG loses bid to delay: "It's very straightforward," Scarpulla told lawyers for AIG, which was one of the investors in the mortgage securities. "Judge Kapnick issued the order. ... If you don't like it, your remedy is to appeal."

  • Vringo lower; Google, others withdraw motion to consolidate appeals [View news story]
This is not correct in any way. If you are investing in this, you should try to read up. I would suggest the freeforums board for relevant information. This meant that Google did not want to consolidate the appeals any longer. VRNG was opposed to this consolidation, so that fact that google withdrew is interesting to say the least. This has nothing to do with the other defendants

depends on what they settle on. i.e. settle on rr, but leave open a few items to appeal - yes. or could settle the whole thing. OR settle nothing, which is most likely the case
