What's Up With Apple's Downturn?

Briefing.com circulated a rumor that Steve Jobs is resigning, and yesterday afternoon this was posted on several AAPL stock trading boards. Don't you wonder who started that rumor? We were due technically for a retrace, having moved up from 115 to 192. And the whole market was pulled down yesterday. It'd be nice if it were over but it could go further down before it comes back.

FBR Says Apple Cutting Q1 Production of iPod, iPhone

Apple always decreases production when they're introducing a new product in the line that could take some of the sales, or updating the line.

Also, I'd like to see the source material that Eric Savitz used; if he'll share it with us? I posted such a request this morning and it seems to have been removed, censored?

Please, Eric, could you provide a link to the original data you referenced from Friedman Billings Ramsey chip analyst Craig Berger? Is there any way we could review that material and possibly get an idea of his source for this info?

I’m sorry you’re being attacked. Many stockholders and options holders and margin holders have been wiped out by the abrupt drop in stock price and are very sensitive to negatives in the news.

Your piece drew a lot of attention as you can see. It would be very helpful if we could see the original material you accessed and get an idea of the source that the author used for his conclusions, since they had so much impact through your article yesterday.

Recession Creeps into Apple, RIM Estimates

As an AAPL long, I've lost my money by holding. I was looking for someone who got it right, by selling or shorting. You are the first one I found who got it right. If I have scraps with which to start again, I hope I'll know when you think the downtrend is over. Don't fail to write a column: I'll be watching for it! Kudos to you for going to the sidelines early this year. I wish I'd known.
