If the market starts correcting and you sold a deep-in-the-money put you will start losing money very fast. I would much rather get long after a correction by selling the inverse, deep-out-of-the-money puts.
I don't care about such things since what I do is sell naked calls on it as mentioned above. Right now you can sell covered calls (out of the money at higher strike prices than what you bought it at) to reduce your losses. Ex. If you bought at 8, sell $9 calls for Mar 2013 (1 per 100 shares).
Or you can just take your losses, learn from it and move on.

Shares can be reversed split, meaning your 200 shares can become 40 shares on a 5-1 split. It has happened before and will likely happen again. Your amount of money will be the same when this happens, though, meaning your loss will still be the same.
