  • Is Sandy Weill Right? [View article]
Dodd and Frank cooked up the first failure and bought into Freddie and Frannie for their own benefit. They then turn around and propose the NEW rules of the road as they BOTH LEAVE for financial outside futures benefitting from the new rules (if applied). Crooks setting precident for the American people and their companies are really STUPID and the American people ought to wake up to this scam. Both parties are to blame for the situation we are in today.

As the previous commentator said: Let's wait and see come the 28th. I for one (long term investor) believe the same thing that happened before will happen again and we willl see a drop back to $16.30 range before we begin to gain again. This rock and roll motion bothers me because there is no rhyme or eason to it except greed by the hedgies.

  • Chesapeake Energy: Desperate Asset Sales And The Language Of Letting Go [View article]
    Like triple-whiskey, I agree.

CHKM and CHKR are essential assets to MANAGEMENT INCOME not to the shareholders. Compare with their peer groups the divvy is less and management fees (stock options etc) are higher in both cases. In turn the parent CHK has a majority stake in both of these units to FUND forward movement. The sale of one or both only dilutes any opportunity to grow existing acreage hence a buy-out of CHK at these levels seems to me to be the most prudent.

  • Analysts are divided on Chesapeake's (CHK) plan to sell its midstream assets for ~$4B. The deals will help CHK by "bringing cash in the door [and] lowering capital commitments," but the price is steep, ISI says, figuring CHK will forgo annual cash flow of ~$195M plus various fees; they're "rob-Peter-to-pay-Paul transactions that are effectively financings."  [View news story]
There goes another asset that was holding this boat afloat. Thought Aubrey had some sense but I think he let his position go to his head and needs to be reined in not fired. He (himself) is an asset that is worth millions if not billions to this company's value and I as a holder would like to see him become a hound for the company.

  • Bloomberg discusses Chesapeake (CHK -3%) as a potential takeover target due to its currently depressed valuation. CHK’s equity and net debt are valued at $9.19 for each barrel of oil equivalent, Bloomberg calculates, lowest among U.S. oil and gas explorers with market caps greater than $5B.  [View news story]
