  • Microsoft: Ready To Take On Apple And Wall Street Critics [View article]
Obviously, Apple owns 100% of the iPod, iPhone, and iPad market. It makes those products. Is there a point to your post? The author is making a point that MSFT has been overlooked, as Tech has continued to grow this past year. MSFT has a real chance of gaining market share and improving its products. MSFT charges a premium for its software and its new release of Windows 8 and mobile software may greatly impact its bottom line.

    disclosure: long AAPL

  • Apple's Run Isn't Over Yet: Part I [View article]
You are joking right? T-Mobile continually admits that it has seen a loss in customers due to not being able to carry the iPhone. The fact that China's largest mobile companies have not adopted the iPhone yet is also a positive. China had explosive growth; imagine what happens when Apple does partner up. The middle class in China and India are growing (although economy has slowed recently, growth of 11% and 7%, respectively) and have a large desire for the trendiest product (Apple products).

Your assumption that US phone companies will not subsidize the iPhone is ludicrious. What about the high end Android phones being subsidized (Android Razr is at a similar price level)? Have you noticed that unsubsidized phones are still being purchased?

Let's take the iPhone out of the equation. Kindle Fire sales have dropped 80-90% (4.8 mm units to 900k) when compared to their holiday sales levels. The iPad is crushing the market. Contrary to popular belief, it is cannabalizing the cheap PC market, not the Apple MacBook/Pro line which has seen an increase in market share.

Master Jedi, my advice: get real. At worst care scenario, Apple is a Hold. I hope to expand my position in the 525-550 range.

  • Why Apple's Buyback And Dividend Plan Is A Disappointing Drop In The Bucket [View article]
According to the call, the share buy back is to prevent share dilution when the options and shares awarded to Apple employees go into effect. I think this is an important aspect to consider. It clearly shows that Apple is concerned about its shareholders.

  • Why It's Time To Short Apple [View article]
LOL, and the Earth will explode, sure it can last another billion years, but it sure will be destroyed. This is poor logic. There is downside risk to AAPL, its better to say at what price point we'll see a fall or at what event. I'm in AAPL until its earnings slow down.

    @Stephen Rosenman,

I wanted to compliment you on your article and its originality. SA has been filled with tons of articles talking about the same subject and copying information everyone has already heard. Your article is unique and provides pertinent information about Apple and its competitors.

  • Apple Will Break New Highs With iPanel [View article]
I agree with you. I am generally a big apple supporter, but the TV market is overly saturated and good TV costs are in the 1-3k range. Apple generally chargers a premium for its products, but it will be hard to do accomplish that in the the given price range. I don't think its the best move. "iPanel" will not be as successful as iphones or ipads.

  • The Impact Of The New iPad [View article]
    Three Cheese,

I agree with the points you are making, but I believe you are being short sighted by assuming "no real work" can be done on this device. I believe that any tablet is a "secondary" device and can serve specific purpose. There is no way an iPad is an efficient tool in getting everyday work done, but could serve as an important device for people who travel. Also, there are companies that are using their IT Depts to develop specifically for the iPad.

  • Does Announcement Make Apple A Good Potential Dividend Growth Stock? [View article]
I agree with you Tradevestor. I think Apple still has a lot of growth left in it. I am just hoping that April's earnings report will be above estimates.

  • Does Announcement Make Apple A Good Potential Dividend Growth Stock? [View article]
I think majority of investors in AAPL are still in it for earnings growth and not dividends. This may change overtime, but my personal plan would be to be out of AAPL when its growth slows, and possibly buy back in the future if it becomes a good dividend growth stock.

  • Alcoa: Ready For A Big Bounce [View article]
I have been following AA for some time now, and have mostly stayed away due to global economic concerns. Previously, I had read that China has purposefully slowed down its aluminum exports. I believe that as aluminum demand increases and price increases, AA will profit. What is the timeline you predict for the 30% gain from its current stock price?

  • Why History Should Worry Apple [View article]
I understand the point you are making, but your offer not substantial evidence, just opinions. I, too, agree that Apple cannot stay in the lead forever, but the point of investing is to make money from a company while you can. You offer no opinions as to when the Apple run will be over, be it 6 months or 6 years from now.

As far as I can see, I only see these companies targeting Apple to create a product as "cool" and trendy and easily usable. They are bench-marking Apple, not surpassing it.
Disclosure: I am long aapl shares, thus my view may be biased. I also own MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone 4s, and Classic iPod.

  • Should Apple Shareholders Take Boycott Talk Seriously? [View article]
I don't understand the point of boycotting just Apple. Why not boycott every product and every company that uses Foxconn or chinese manufacturing. Because, I am pretty sure they all face the same type of conditions. Apple is being targeted because of the name and trendy products.
