  • High Growth For Wind And Solar, But Not For Their Investors [View article]
If you calculated the environmental impact of fossil fuels (I believe Germany does this) the playing field would be fairer, and you do not have to even consider carbon to do this. There are plenty of other pollutants if you do not believe in CO2. Do you think California passed the first clean air act because of political reasons? Take a look at the air in LA and see what can happen. The Volt suffered from some really bad press, such as the fire report. There are over 200,000 vehicle gasoline fires a year in this country, but we are OK with that. When vehicles are wrecked in testing the gas tanks are drained, but with the volt they left it fully charged. A mistake in testing, not a vehicle safety concern. Range is the issue with pure EV's, and Americans do not want to fill like they are giving up anything. More Plug-in hybrids are coming out, and they will sell once competition sets in, since they will have the range. No one thought the Prius would sell either, and our domestic automakers got their butts kicked by it because they figured producing a hybrid vehicle in this oil obsessed country would not be profitable.
