  • Is NQ Mobile Incredibly Crowded? [View article]
I think Paulo Santos saw an opportunity to capitalize on the attention that NQ was getting and wrote a middle school level analysis of why TSLA deserves more attention. To get to his point, TSLA deserves the attention because it has larger numbers and NQ doesnt.

Amazing analysis I might say... How about the fact that NQ lost 50% in share price due to some jackass claiming they were a shell company? Or the huge buying opportunity this provides should these accusations prove false.

Without trying to cause offense to the writer, this is probably the worst article I have read on SA thus far.

  • Nokia (NOK) will be removed from the Euro Stoxx 50 index on March 18 (translation), along with GDF Suez (GDFZY.PK). Replacing them are EADS (EADSY.PK) and Schneider Electric (SBGSY.PK). [View news story]
the elimination of the dividend made perfect sense. if you had been following nokia on SA you would have seen that we had already discussed it in great length as to why a dividend elimination for 2013 is useful in the restructuring efforts. I dont really understand why it came as a big shock to you or anyone in the financial world really.

  • Tablets: Great Catalyst For Nokia's Stock, But Success Lies On The Consumer End [View article]
i took my car into the dealership the other day and i noticed half of the workers there were working using the Surface RT. They checked me in, filled out all the information, gave me a wait time, printed my paperwork wirelessly and charged my credit card with it.

It was impressive seeing them work with the surface rather than a desktop.

  • A Nokia (NOK) Windows Phone with a 41MP image sensor (similar to that of the Symbian-based 808 PureView) will launch this summer in the U.S., sources tell The Guardian. A January report from The Verge claimed the phone will have an aluminum body and be sold by AT&T. If the report pans out, the phone should arrive around the same time as Samsung's Galaxy S IV, and just maybe an iPhone 5S. [View news story]

What is your impression of the indian tax issue regarding nokia. Although it hasn't been really reported in western media, newspapers in India are saying that Nokia might have to pay $2.5 billion.

    Personally i am long nokia.

  • Grudge Match: Nokia Vs. Research In Motion [View article]
    @Debauche
if you look at china mobile you will notice that they have over 700 million SUBSCRIBERS. That means no babies, no 15 year olds that pay the company. All grown up consumers. The phone is selling for less than a dollar in China due to subsidies. Even if only 1% of the population opt to buy a nokia lumia phone (keep in mind most of the population already has nokia feature phones) that is 7 million lumia 920's sold in china....

No, Verizon alone wont change anything, but there are many die hard fans of verizon that are patiently waiting for the lumia 920 and if nokia can bring it to verizon it will just keep adding to their bottom line.

OS features are something that can be addressed in updates. The poor battery life fix was all over the internet if you could just google and it seems that the update nokia released about a month ago has addressed that anyways.

and your description of a lumbering MS is far from right. MS right now if focusing on content creation and getting developers like EA games and other game studios to port games to W8 mobile.

and i can attest. There really is demand for the lumia 920. Ive seen a bunch around my college campus as well as spoken to co workers as well as acquaintances who have expressed interest in it without me bringing it up. (ive always brought up RIMM in conversations and most people had no idea they were still around.)

  • Apple's Shares Are Approaching A Bottom [View article]
you can throw as many pretty charts as you want and highlight all the positives but aapl has still not hit bottom. Unless they release a revolutionary product or create a new market their competitors will tear them down piece by piece.
The iphone's brand imaging is changing and so is the ipad. They are no longer differentiating factors when it comes to consumer decision on purchases.

  • Nokia (NOK -1.7%) is getting on board the 3D printing bandwagon: the company is releasing a development kit (Nokia calls it a 3DK) that allows users to create custom shells for the Lumia 820. One could see the concept eventually extended to a variety of other hardware accessories. [View news story]

  • Nokia Upgrades Will Create More Upside [View article]
even when FH was a bull he wasnt long on the stock. You have to understand how FH makes his living in order to understand his position. His profit comes volatility so it is in his benefit now to be bearish on the company until things start improving in his mind and then he will switch to bull again...

As for you lumiaMan i am willing to bet you are long on Nokia. I am as long as well.

  • Nokia's (NOK +18.7%) sell-side critics are impressed with the margin improvement disclosed in the company's Q4 pre-announcement, but offer more cautious takes on its phone sales. 4.4M Q4 Lumia shipments (hurt by supply constraints) topped Baird's (Underperform) forecast of 3.8M, but missed Wells Fargo's (Market Perform) estimate of 6.5M. Bernstein's Pierre Ferragu, a long-time bear, still thinks "Nokia will lose all its low end Smartphone and high end feature phone businesses over the next few years," and post 2015 EPS of just €0.12. [View news story]
india's 4G is very unique. Only 1 phone actually works on it. However there are only several cities with any 4G capability in India as well. Last i heard, even though the lumia920 supports nine 4G bands, India's 2300MHz(correct me if im wrong) 4G band is missing.
