  • Asset Allocation Is Alive And Well [View article]
Thank you. Very well sated. I enjoy your articles immensely, keep em coming for my 1 cent.

In reality I am not sure if there is an allocation problem here or a propensity towards taking action on my part.

    Excellent advice,
Retain your risk tolerance balance always or get swept off with the crowd. Made some mistakes in fear about 2007-2009, by backing off from my long term 85% equities 15% FI/Bonds.

  • Why Intel TV Will Fail [View article]
    Yes, and thank you,
my mind was simply distracted by whatever portion of the statement could be easily dismissed, as usual, i proved my foolishness and the fickle nature of my own mind.
    You got me 1/0.
Congratulations on staying in the moment.

Lets see, 180 per month, for cable or 8 shares(INTC). I go with 8 shares here. No thought required! Is that 6 dollars a day?

And you have the audacity to complain about others conspiring to charge greater rates for your TV even as you are willing to continue.

The boob tube cannot compete with my mind. And the good lord gave me the mind for free.

Exercise the mind and find out what its value is - for entertainment only. Generally, engaging the mind does not result in profit.

There seems to be some confusion between wants and needs here. Needs: oxygen, food.
    Wants: entertainment.

Lush to think that we need to be entertained when our mind provides so much entertainment. As a culture, worldwide, we have stopped taking advantage of the built in entertainment value of our minds.

Perhaps a bit of meditation will remind us how useful the mind is for nothing but entertainment.

RE: "I still own 200 shares, but I fail to see why that is."

Because you have not liquidated them!

You fail to see why you do not do what is in your heart. Well, well, perhaps by crying someone offers you a teat. There, there......

    Its ok.

  • Finding Room for Income With Vanguard REIT ETF [View article]
Yes, that is my question canuckinGA. Are the dividends taxed as income when holding the REIT ETF's.

another question: is VNQ a ETF or an ETN.

Finally, if anyone could clarify the differences between ETF's and ETN's and their tax treatment, please go ahead and do so.

    Regards,

  • Apple's New Pet: The Black Swan [View article]
I have to agree with Robert here, the words that Cook used to describe his success were poorly chosen. If you are not beating your own estimates, then hyperbole about the quantity of success is not going to be absorbed well by the market.

The slight miss resulted in being taken to the woodshed.

I am not upset by the results. I have an investment in AAPL and intend to hold. However saying that coming in under estimates is better than good seems a bit confusing to me.
