  • Judge Paul Grewal yesterday ordered Apple (AAPL) to provide Samsung (SSNLF.PK) with a full copy of the U.S. company's IP settlement with HTC. Apple had offered a redacted version that doesn't include the royalty rate. Samsung argued that the deal terms are "highly relevant" to Apple's request for a ban on U.S. sales of Samsung smartphones. [View news story]
You're right. Eric Schmidt sitting on Apple's board while Apple developed the iPhone stinks to high heaven.

Apple would not have entered an agreement that undermines their business. Therefore, the release of this info to Samsung cannot hurt Apple. I suspect it will actually frustrate Samsung (For example, HTC may have agreed to the same terms which were previously offered to Samsung).

  • Apple (AAPL +4.8%) is roaring higher after analysts came to its defense yet again (I, II). Today's gains come as the Beijing Times reports China Telecom (CHA) will begin taking iPhone 5 pre-orders tomorrow, and 9to5 Mac reports early builds of the next version of Mac OS X feature Siri and Maps integration. [View news story]

  • Margin compression at Apple (AAPL) is long-term strategy, not a sign the company is losing its competitive edge, writes Kopin Tan in a bullish front-page Barron's article giving the iPhone maker the nod in its battles with Samsung (SSNLF.PK). "Samsung is running ads spoofing the cult of Apple. Samsung knows what it's like to have an image problem." [View news story]
You're right. It has nothing to do with engineering, innovation, customer service, quality, software, hardware, marketing, a smooth retail experience, or any of that. It's just mania.

@untrusting. Price closed up with 2.5 times the average volume. That means consensus buying, not selling.

  • Is Apple Delicious At $500? [View article]
The article is late. The price got as close to 500 as it ever will be yesterday, $505. Volume then exploded to 2.5 times the average and the price closed over $527. If you want to buy as close to $500 as possible, you had better buy right now. You won't get another chance.
