  • Surviving A Worst-Case Scenario To Become A Dividend Growth Investor [View article]
I sold on the way down and bought on the way up. I can honestly say I didn't sell soon enough but continued buying on the way up. It wasn't pretty but it worked out OK...

  • How Union Pacific Could Benefit From Tesla's Gigafactory [View article]
No doubt about it. Rails are far away the cheapest most efficient method of mobile transportation. My only point is even though the cars are electric, they can't be made or delivered without the energy from fossil fuels. Even the parts for the vehicle will contain materials derived from petroleum based products...

  • How Union Pacific Could Benefit From Tesla's Gigafactory [View article]
It is a myth to think that these cars can exist without infrastructure and a strong grid. In California now, electric power is being rationed. That is the future sir...

  • How Union Pacific Could Benefit From Tesla's Gigafactory [View article]
That is good news for UNP but a bit depressing to the greenies. Imagine all of those nice environmentally kind cars being hauled on that diesel guzzling, carbon spewing behemoth. Well one thing about nature, for every positive motion there is a negative one...

  • Big bet on Neighborhood Market by Wal-Mart [View news story]
DG and the other discounters have begun to wear down WMT. They are too big and impersonal to compete. The competition is smaller, more convenient and probably cheaper. It is not a slam dunk they can succeed..

  • GE: 40% Upside Potential With Limited Downside Risk [View article]
You can turn that sentence around just as well. Corruption of government reflecting corruption of business. Take the government mandated ethanol industry as a classic example. The hundreds of millions of dollars wasted in meaningless green energy incentives. The favoritism displayed to the vendors who assembled the lousy Obama care website. Just to name a few...

  • GE: 40% Upside Potential With Limited Downside Risk [View article]
Anyone can play with numbers John. GE is UP over 400% since it bottomed in the $6 range about 6 years ago. A lot of people including me bottom fished the stock and were handsomely rewarded..

I will file this with the other thousand positive articles SA has printed on GE while the stock was stranded at $25 like a beached whale. I am long GE and consider the dividend safe and growing. I agree downside risk is minimal. But you do have some good stuff in that bong...

  • Kinder Morgan gets court nod for California rail terminal [View news story]
UNP is the dominant east/west carrier. BN dominates the north/west corridor. It is possible it leaves Canada on the BN and at some point transfers to UNP. Sometimes as many as three railroads participate in the action. For instance it could go to Kansas City transfer to Kansas City Southern and then to UNP for the trip to the west coast. One of the reasons pipelines are safer is they eliminate all of this transferring and handling. You would think the environmental jihadists would be in favor of pipelines over rail. But they want to eliminate the use of fossil fuel altogether..

  • Barron's Could Boost Boeing [View article]
This is positive news but I liked the stock because outside of Airbus they have little or no competition on commercial airlines. Almost everyone underestimates it's number two position to LMT in US defense contracts. Only today I read an article about a BA land vehicle with a high intensity laser that has successfully shot down military drones. It has a far more balanced product line than most investors realize....
