      i find this opinion very poorly argued. credit ratings are downgraded all the time. it functions as a benchmark for people. it is credit agencies' opinion of credit quality. you rely on it at your own risk. better credit rating simply means that a downgrade is less likely, in the agency's opinion, not that it will not happen.
