I am an 81 year old retired lawyer and real estate developer. I got into the securities "game" via the back door ( bankruptcy proceedings) when I took control of a NASDAQ (small cap) listed company in the late nineties. Dealing with the disciplines which move the market and the regulatory agencies (think SEC) was a learning curve I don't wish to revisit. However it was a grand education and an experience which propelled me into the market as a totally uninitiated investor. I am fascinated with the vagaries of the market and expect to return to solvency if I can only learn the art of discipline...a big challenge for me.

Disclaimer: Money Morning and Stansberry & Associates Investment Research are separate companies, and entirely distinct. Their only common thread is a shared parent company, Agora Inc. Agora Inc. was named in the suit by the SEC and was exonerated by the court, and thus dropped from the case. Stansberry & Associates was found civilly liable for a matter that dealt with one writer’s report on a company. The action was not a criminal matter. The case is still on appeal, and no final decision has been made.
I am a mechanical engineer full time and a self-taught value investor in my spare time (another full time job). My portfolio is highly concentrated in value stocks with a high margin of safety, or cash, but a small portion of my portfolio is also positioned in high impact positive black swan stocks which I believe offer a favorable risk/reward ratio.
