  • Why Is Tesla Throttling Production? [View article]
How many Teslas would sell without the re-sale guarantee?
How many cars period would sell without zero % financing?

  • Why Is Tesla Throttling Production? [View article]
How many CEO's will simply advise investors to just "get out of the stock" if they don't like the story.

Who was it that said "a stock is a lie" anyway.

  • Why Is Tesla Throttling Production? [View article]
We talked about this months ago. $2 gas changes the dynamic for all but the cult.

I cancelled both hybrid/EV and home PV purchases. Even at $5 gas, made very little sense but was worth a try.

Yeah -- soon after the Halloween surprise, many of these "trusts" went on a slow and steady decline even with high oil prices. There are numerous and somewhat complicated explanations.

  • Shell CEO says oil demand to outpace supply in 2015 [View news story]
Sure, now that production is dropping faster than demand is dropping.

Let's see ... Let's sell less volume than we usually sell at lower prices than we usually get.

Hmm, not so sure that biz model will work. :)

  • How To Generate Income With A Built-In Margin Of Safety [View article]
    wd,

Who is the broker? Level 1 should be easy to obtain.

Just a side note. I watched some real world portfolios sell the T $32 put expiring Feb 20 a few weeks ago for a few hundred bucks in cap gains (assuming T holds up). They could have just bought the stock at $32.50 or $33 at the time and ride it to $35 quickly.

    No free lunch.

There are put selling services that appear to me to report rear view mirror to bait subscribers, but even worse they are claiming "never assigned" and and few hundred bucks here and there repeatedly.

Look closely though and you will see if they had just bought the stock a buck or two above the strike they sold, the cap gains would have been in the 100's of thousands instead of $thousands. How do you explain to your subs that you left $100k+ on the table to win a few thousand with almost the same risk and no divies?

Lastly, MCD seems to be VERY risky common.

  • Retired And Looking For Income From Your Bond Allocation? Pump Up Your Yield With A Barbell Approach [View article]
3% taxable won't cut it for most retirees.

  • Retired And Looking For Income From Your Bond Allocation? Pump Up Your Yield With A Barbell Approach [View article]
What is your bogey? What are you trying to do?
Does anyone remember 5% insured CDs?
Or, 5% coupon "safe" munis trading around par?

Short term rates no matter how high will not be high enough for retirees trying to live off bond income. If rates were to ramp that high, housing, autos, appliances, and zero teaser rate credit cards would come to a screeching halt.

The Fed has painted everyone into the proverbial corner and now the whole world is at zero (neg rates!) and effectively still struggling for the most part by any real measures.

And, to compound the problem, real estate and stocks are in a bubble.

Medicine for symptoms and to mask the pain instead of a cure.

  • Case For A Crude Oil Boomerang [View article]
Short covering? Gotta trade the traders. Oil company stock prices could start moving many months in advance of oil.

  • Case For A Crude Oil Boomerang [View article]
Speculators in the paper oil market could drive the price almost anywhere for any reason at any time.

"If that happened again, there's the $200 number, based on today's levels."

The same guys that said $200 also said $20. There was no money to be made when oil just sat at $100. Big traders need volatility in something anything and a BIG SHORT. Everyone thought it would be bonds, but they got a surprise.

The bigger play is batteries for solar. Tesla might just morph into the mother of all battery companies.
