    Many wouldn't pay $1.95. :)

How many burger specific franchise and independents have opened in the past 5 to 7 years? Dozens?

And you just can't beat Subway for a reasonably healthy $5/$6 meal.

  • Market Timing Report: 10-20% Correction Due To Extreme Sentiment And Leverage [View article]
Revisit the 2008/2009 downturn. It was a massive fraud built on a govt policy that everyone should own a home. The policy alone is up for debate. The fraud is not.

Also, in the US, residential homeowners can just walkaway legally, and many did.

Maybe that same sort of fraud is lurking somewhere right now.
If not, even a global slowdown should not trigger a crash.

2008/2009 was also massive fraud on a global scale. Iceland alone was almost bankrupted by housing bonds rated AAA but called "worse than junk" by the sellers themselves. Then nobody knew for sure who the politicians would let go BK.

I keep scratching my head looking for the next "mess" Wall Street is planning to exploit.

My biggest worry is the public (and private) pension plans. Now there's a Ponzi scheme that can't last.

Look, there are easy, industry standard ways to verify a track record over a significant time period.

Not sure "this article was released on ...." will cut it.

Paper trading, newsletters, rear view mirror stuff are worth that they are printed on.

If these authors are trying to draw AUM, then they should offer up their REAL, ACTUAL track record for review.

Regarding health care companies. What are you willing to pay when you are in pain? Talk about a lop-sided financial relationship.

How do you know how they are hedged? Maybe at $110, they sold future production at that level happy to get it and willing to forego a potential geo-political price spike.

    Why did markets decline?

    More sellers than buyers. Period.

Not sure about the folks you referenced, but many have said sell at S&P 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, and 2000.

Who knows, maybe they will be right eventually.

  • When To Sell [View article]
For investors, you sell when ...

    (1) You KNOW the market is going considerably lower.
    (2) The cap gains taxes you pay are MUCH LESS than the market drop.
    (3) You are willing and able to TIME the re-entry.

    Good luck with all three!

Anybody watching the Sunday news can see Iraq is increasingly UNSTABLE.
Part of the lower oil price thesis is that Iraq supply was coming online, just for one example.

It appears the entire Middle East is a big risk.

Maybe ISIS can shoot mortars and lob rockets in such a way that oil production just keeps on humming.

Oil could be $60 or $140 (as usual) depending on how traders are leaning.

I think MCD is very risky and said so from much higher levels.

    - $15 min wage coming
    - higher food costs; Cal drought impact is yet to be felt
    - competition opening everyday and everywhere from CMG and PNRA type restaurants to mom 'n pop places
    - MickieD is not "cool" for the younger generations

You have a tsunami of lower class people moving to the middle class around the world that want nothing else other than a car. Especially in Asia. This number could be in the billions.

I don't agree re: solar and oil prices.
Photovoltaics is a 5 to 50 year story unfolding with the wind (no pun intended) at its back. Everyone will have a hybrid, EV, or hybrid EV car and some panels on the roof.

I was just pointing out the correlation between asset classes.
Machines are doing the trading IMO.

Let's hope most of the selling is "forced" like 2008/2009 and not a tectonic shift in the playing field.
