  • An Updated Enhanced Income Investing Strategy For Qualcomm [View article]
    Greg,

Put (no pun intended) another way. Are you making a judgment on the valuation of QCOM here around $55, or are you simply executing a strategy? That is, you're not sure if QCOM is a horse that will finish 1st by April, but you like the horse in general and you're willing to bet it doesn't finish 8th or 9th in the race?

  • Why Annaly Capital's Stock Will Continue To Fall [View article]
The muni bashers are a curious bunch. Not sure why they risk their reputations. In any event, if the state of CAL, or NY, or IL actually defaulted on GOs, the rest of the US economy (and related investments) would likely be in shambles far in advance.

Warning of a maturing market, the firm believes "AT&T's smartphone opportunity may be passing its peak," with "smartphone penetration above 50% of the postpaid base and sales likely to be north of 80% of handsets in Q4."  [View news story]
More and more traffic of every kind is going online. Look most of the recent IPOs for examples. In some way, much of that traffic is handled by T.

    Mark,

I'm always interested in the investor psychology behind this strategy, so I hope you don't mind the questions.

    (1) Do you want to assigned, or would you prefer not?
    (2) Are you saying the stock is over-valued today at $55, but worth owning (the risk) in April at $48?

  • ECRI Recession Call: Growth Index Virtually Unchanged For 7 Weeks [View article]
The question remains, what does Ben fear in declining/stagnant US residential home prices? Seems the actual damage he's doing with zero interest rates, far exceeds the potential rewards.

Is this still a save the banks play?

    Farm,

The over-riding issue is the risk of a div cut when a low cap equity is trading with a high coupon. The resulting div cut often hammers the share price. Not always, but usually not worth the risk.

I think the strong Internet theme, disintermediation, hurts the auto makers sooner or later. ZipCar type stuff.
