  • Flying High On Borrowed Wings [View article]
Participants in a relatively free and un-fettered market would NOT lend money unsecured (or even secured) at <2% for 10 years and 3% for 30 years to anyone!

Look at MickieD for example. 3% for 30 years. What is the likely they will even be around 30 years from now?

    The US is "payment nation".

Will anyone buy a house going forward without a sub 4% mortgage? Will anyone pay cash for a house if they could get a 5% CD?

Will anyone buy an iPad or a washer/dryer without 0% interest for 18 to 36 months?

Will anyone buy a car without a sub 2% loan?

Ben has painted himself into a corner, AND hammered savers for the past 5 years now.

  • "We believe that Apple (AAPL) will launch the iPhone 5S at China Mobile (CHL) this July, as it launches the next iteration of the iPhone globally," writes Wedge Partners' Brian Blair, without elaborating on his sources. The remarks come a little less than 3 months after Apple and China Mobile signed a confidentiality agreement. Blair sees a 5S model supporting China Mobile's TD-SCDMA 3G network likely entering production in May. (WSJ report[View news story]
We need an iPhone on the 4G network. And, not tied to a carrier.

  • Apple: Major Concerns Overstated And More Than Priced In [View article]
We talked about this long ago. This thing is still possibly very over-owned. You can't pick your parents or your neighbors.

If all the big money holders with 7 to 10% positions decide to normalize to 1 to 5% positions, the selling could take as long as it took for them to build the positions.

  • "iRadio is coming. There's no doubt about it," a music industry source tells The Verge's Greg Sandoval. After months of tough negotiations with studios, Apple (AAPL) is said to be aiming for a summer launch. The company's reported plan to limit the service to Apple hardware stands to affect its popularity with customers who listen to music on both Apple and non-Apple gear. Sandoval adds the music industry has "a love-hate relationship" with Pandora (P), believing (in spite of Pandora's gripes about royalty rates) it "chokes off demand" for more profitable services. [View news story]
Appears that iGame is on the way also.

    iWearable (watch, etc.)
    iRadio
    iGame
    ....

    What else can they do?
I would still like to see more iMedDevices.

I tried a Google TV box on an HD TV just get something to surf the web on the TV if/when needed. What a mess.

The main issue for me as always, is the multi-company integration of hardware, OS, and apps.

  • Up 10%, Are Stocks Now Too Dangerous To Hold? [View article]
The current circumstances are simply unprecedented.
Dot bomb bubble, was big. The housing bubble, even bigger.

    Now ...
    - crazy low interest rates, really never before seen
    - insane govt debt and manipulation of THE biggest bond market
    - inverted population curve
    - effectively now socialized medicine; health care for all with no possible way to pay for $1,000,000 afflictions since many will live long enough to experience them; by the way, no coverage for the illegal immigrants that Obama wants now to legalize
    - labor with no bargaining power and no demand
    - venture capital still bent on the dot bomb model of virtualization and disintermediation giving us this time around GroupOn, Angie's List FaceBook, etc -- now that's real societal value and productivity :)
    - robotics the next "big thing", how will labor do here?
    - $400K per year income FOR LIFE to a county admin in N Cal
    - a Euro "fix it" model that employs confiscation
    - 10's of millions on food stamps and disability - in the US!
    - monster student debt

    I could go on ...

  • BlackBerry Vs. Apple: Which Is A Winning Bet For 2013? [View article]
The stock price aside, why would anyone buy a device other than the iPhone/iPad? It is simply not worth it by almost any measure.

iRadio is on the way, medical devices, education apps, ...
    Why fight City Hall ???

You might be stupid, but don't be crazy! :)

Do and say what you want with the stock, but make life easy for yourself (and productive) -- iPhone/iPad.

Microsoft left a lot of small companies in the dust as they marched across tech land in their heyday.

What else could apple add to their ecosystem? iRadio -- cool.

Only on Apple hardware? So what? That's all I need and own anyway.
The fewer the tech vendors to deal with, the better for my TCO.
iPhone/iPad is my core tele-comp platform. Apple, load me up!

Will be interesting to see when the DOJ first comes calling.
Will they call on an iPhone? :)

And China Mobile on 4G. Big opportunity there. Could dwarf the US if they can get it right. $800 for an iPhone5 that is made there (so no shipping charges) with at least some national pride is too much for the bulk of that market.

SamDroid java virtual machine is too slow.

  • AT&T: A Toxic Aristocrat [View article]
More and more traffic is going online from healthcare to e-payments and everything in between. That doesn't even include the sea change from client-server to cloud based apps. Appears that T and VZ get a piece of almost everything, with more to come.
