Everyone does this which in part holds the stock down and contributes to volatility.

You are looking in the rear view mirror. It takes Big Money a long time to unwind positions.

    Tim, Doug and others ---

For the average income investor, why not just buy a fund?
Why deal with the investment class issues and pitfalls, and the potential landmines of owning any single company issues? TIA.

  • Are Stocks Too Expensive? [View article]
Mother of all bubbles is forming and most everyone knows it.
The reasons are many, varied, and most are obvious.

The pressure to buy and relative performance among BIG MONEY is very strong though.

With interest rates manipulated, who knows what market prices should be for most anything.

Will be interesting to see what pricks this bubble, and how much air escapes this time.

I do think the market could hold up here and maybe even go higher on dramatic P/E expansion as income investors and "relative performers" climb all over each other in desperation.

Also, at the first hint of sales declines, it appears many publicly traded companies will not hesitate one minute to cut head count.
My guess is ObamaCare will be the first level excuse.

Admit it. You just want to be seen it. :)

Once the total carbon footprint and environmental impact of EVs is analyzed, the tax incentives will not only go away, they will be reversed.

  • Why Tesla Is Like Apple Except The Valuation [View article]
IMO, the biggest issue is the Moore's Law people behind these companies. They, for the most part, come from the computer/software, virtualization camp.

They need to study Thermodynamics. :)

Unless of course like some professional sports owners their intention is not simply profitability, but simply disruption of long standing industries.

Internal combustion engines will gain in fuel efficiency while the cost of electricity goes up and the dangers of making, handling and disposing of batteries increases as well.

Let's say Bogle is right, and you can count on 5 to 7% in the stock market year after year. Does a $100K car make any sense on any basis?

Give me a $100K car built to survive a crash and protect its occupants like the race cars and I will buy one.

I thought this space would be winner take all and Apple would win.
Samsung and BYOD are among the surprises that in many ways don't make a lot of sense but that's what makes a marketplace.
