  • BlackBerry May Admit Defeat On BB10 - What's Next?  [View article]
Not sure what John Chen is thinking, but his strategy and stubbornness is not working at all. The Passport is a great device, but where is the full touch high end BB10 people have been asking for.

Why would SA allow such an article based on nothing but nonsense rumours, that were shot down by BBRY's CEO.

bwsf, BB10 is the way to the future, whether you like it or not. That OS is innovation, and Android nor iOS will ever catch up to it, because they are dead end OS's that no longer have the ability to expand.

The reason why BB10 hasn't sold well is all due to the companies Marketing negligence and device choice incompetence. Yet John Chen will tell you that the Leap is a great device. OK, so how many did the company sell? Yet we have Millions of Z10 and Z30 owners are left with no BB10 upgrade path.

The Passport release was a good move for sure, but they also should have released a Full Touch version of the Passport, so they can cater to 3 types of customers. Those that want a Physical Keyboard that is highly unique and innovative, those coming off the Z10 and Z30 and those looking to give BB10 a try.

Reason #2 for people not going with BB10 ATM is because there isn't a full touch BB10 phone available worth buying. Sure the Z30 is a great Full Touch device, but its over 2 years old. Reason #1 is the App selection, though I've seen many good apps come out in 2015 and new ones in 2016 in BlackBerry World. They need to correct Reason 2, for Reason 1 to properly succeed. BBRY should help fund Dev's so they can release key apps on BB10. And not just silly ports, Native BB10 apps which are the best designed in the industry.

    This is nonsense.
This BBRY employee should be reprimanded for stating false information, and going against John Chen's own words.

    They are."""

This is your opinion correct? Because its not the industries. Why don't you tell all Government Agencies and Major Companies and the Millions that buy and use BB10 each and everyday.

This I have to agree with you on. Anybody formulating an argument against this specific point is delusional at best. IMO

Sitting on the Priv? Spilling liquid on the Priv? LOL Is that your argument. Don't buy the Priv, because you might sit on it and spill pop on it. Oh Boy.

Broken Stock? Sounds to me he means high volatility and unpredictable. BBRY's 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 year charts is not indicative of its future performance.

Correct me if I am wrong.

    David653,
The Z10 does not look like an iPhone and the iPhone does not look like the Z10. Get over it. Claiming the iPhone looks like the Z10 is telling people that the Z10 is a ugly looking phone. And its not.

The Z30 is a superior full touch beast. Even in today's standards. It's unfortunate they didn't release one with a Quad-Core CPU, so Android users blind to Hardware Specifications won't complain about specs. The Z30 was the best smartphone of 2014. And still remains one of the best full touch phones, hardware quality and best OS of course.

David653, to be fair, like all other mobile phones, they all eventually go on sale within weeks of release. It's been in North America for some time now, but just arrived in Europe, for example. So you would put a Sale on it in North America, and eventually do the same in Europe.

    So MartyGras,
How's the iPhone holding up? Personally for me, I couldn't replace my Z30 for a downgrade to an iPhone. Excluding the App Selections, iOS is a MAJOR downgrade. Not by opinion, but by FACT.

The iOS UI would frustrate me too much. Nothing beats the smoothness of BB10, the simplicity in swiping back and forth, seamlessly, the Hub, and how far more Intelligent and highly Intuitive the BB10 OS is.

cereal, the 950 may have a better camera, but its a better device overall, it runs Windows 10. That's a lot better then the likes of Android. So Priv loses to that easily.

Had the Priv been equipped with BB10, my statement would be the other way around. Of course.

I share the same sentiments. Keys just didn't feel right. Didn't like the total feel of the device either, and not work the price they are asking IMO. If I was forced to choose, I would go with a new Note in a heartbeat, over the Priv, despite my dislike for the age old Android OS.

Dave, there's nothing more easily than Switching from a BB10 to an Android or vice versa. This is 2016, not 2010.

And there are 2 issues with BBRY today. BB10 was delayed. And none existing marketing. Both can easily be (Should Have Been) rectified. But JC seems to lack that expertise or he's simply ignorant.

The Passport, especially the Silver Edition is still IMO the best Smartphone on the planet. Hardware and OS combination is King. But where is the Massively Sought out high end full touch Z30 BB10 replacement? Dave653 has a strong point, create the right smartphone, put BB10 into it, market it well and PAY developers for key apps that people want, and work closely with carriers to ignite sales through unique promotions etc., It's not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination. Mr. Chen unfortunately just doesn't get it.

Priv's reasoning for its existence should mean 2 things, future increase in BB10 sales and giving people the impression BBRY is here, making phones, so look at us. They can capture new markets by making it an Android based device. And will make customers look at BBRY's entire line of products and services, including BB10...

Note: Priv will never claim best smartphone, because it runs Android, a very messy OS, regardless what BBRY did to its version.
